Café & Rösterei Mundus — Restaurant in Aachen

I found this new gem to Aachen's specialty coffee scene walking through the city. The owner is a coffee roaster by trade and they only serve their own coffee, roasted close-by in Düren. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, had a great conversation about their processes and coffee generally with them.

I tried their La Cristalina roast as a pour over and their "Aachener Röstung" as batch brew. La Cristalina is a lovely Colombian. Light roast, fruit forward, with nice citrus notes at the end. Enjoyable throughout. Aachener Röstung is an interesting medium roast with good levels of acidity and some resemblence of chocolate. I preferred this roast more towards the end as it already cooled down a bit.

Can't wait to try their espresso based drinks soon and cold coffee...

It is a lovely place. It is a little on the smallish side, but so far, I have always found a cozy seat. The coffee is really something else. Beautiful and interesting for the lighter roasts, very comforting and easy on the stomach for the darker roast. Beautiful gift basket, local art, and other treats. Exeptional coffee, friendly service, and fair prices. You can choose between different coffees depending on what you want and the shop owner will gladly tell you about the different coffes and is clearly knowledgeable and passionate about the coffee.
