John Benton — Restaurant in Augsburg

We, 2 persons, went there yesterday without reservation. We arrived before 6PM where most of tables are empty and left a bit after 7PM which the table still not full. There was a big group near the front with children and some were coming add to the table. We were assigned to a small table next to them even though the bigger 2 other table in that section were still nobody. I politely ask if we can change the table, a man denied my request. We accepted that quietly but a couple people add to the big group so they need more space and our table. A same man sent signal to my wife to change a table without a word to us, Was it rude or just a typical cold service around here. A English speaking wattress is friend ly and try to comfort us. She offered us something like a special dish of a day but the information is so incomplete and confused. We ordered regular dishes which were John Benton stake and a rib 550 gm. A rib is big and taste good, partly too dry. The side dishe salad is simple with extra cost. A rump steak was also good but small came with big baked potato 🤣🤣 and big garlic bread . The sauce is a bit salty and pour over the steak. We, Asian , could not take all big portion like the western so we finished only steak, rib and salad and left most of potatoes and half of bread. We admired a English speaking waitress but not her superior. We won't recommend or come back. We are on holidays and need a service to comfort our time. PS. WC was...

Im Allgemeinen kannst du sagen - Ist ok! Wir hatten heute spontan entschieden da essen zu gehen und sind hier ins John Benton. Wenn es um Steak geht, gehe ich bis jetzt eigentlich ganz gerne hier hin und meist dabei mit Freunden. Das Essen trifft zwar nicht jedermanns Geschmack aber über Geschmack lässt sich bekanntlich streiten. Mein Essen war wirklich ausgezeichnet, wobei man wohl schauen muss wie sonst der Trend ist. Dennoch wurden wir alle satt und es hat auch geschmeckt und ich kann es immernoch empfehlen.

Die Bedienung - Auch ok! Was die Bedinungen angeht muss man sagen, dass sie alle einen wirklich gepflegten Eindruck machen, aber dennoch irgendwo die Freundlichkeit und Herzlichkeit fehlt. Unsere Bestellungen wurden zwar alle gut ausgeführt und es wurde nichts vergessen, dennoch würde es den Damen nicht schaden die Gäste öfter direkt anzuschauen oder ebenso ein bisschen mehr Freundlichkeit zu verstrahlen. Das ist mir vorher auch öfter mal aufgefallen.

Das Essen - ok! Wie schon gesagt, bei dem Essen hatten wir gemischte Gefühle. Ich hatte ein Steak medium mit Pilzrahmsoße, Baguette und einer Ofenkartoffel. Dazu muss ich sagen, dass mein Steak wirklich perfekt medium und saftig war und ebenso geschmacklich top. Die Ofenkartoffel war ebenfalls perfekt und die Sourcream war reichhaltig und geschmaklich super. Punkteabzug hier, für das Essen meiner Freunde. Ihr Steak war nicht wirklich medium, obwohl es das sein sollte und war auch eher zäh, als saftig und weich. Die Soße, die sie hatten war geschmacklich ebenfalls eher fad und schmeckte etwas künstlich, wobei die Pommes wiederum gut waren. Wären die andern beiden Steaks nicht so gewesen, sähe die Bewertung ganz anders aus. Zwar hört sich das alles sehr negativ an, aber insgesamt hat es geschmeckt und wir kommen auf jeden Fall wie so oft auch wieder.

Das Ambiente - ok! Das John Benton ist eine Mischung aus rusikalen und einigen amerikanisch angehauchten rustikalen Elementen. Ich persönlich finde es dort ganz angenehm und man kann eine schöne Zeit haben, auch wenn es vielleicht an manchen Stellen ein bisschen eng ist.

Sauberkeit - auch ok! Das Restaurant macht einen guten gepflegten Eindruck und man kann sich hier nicht beschweren. Auch was WC betrifft wird hier auf einen gepflegten und sauberen...

My server came right out to serve me. I struggle a little with German. Hence the language class. My server helped because she also spoke English. She offered me an English menu. Nice!
