Bäcker Wiedemann – Bäckerei Brandenburger Tor — Restaurant in Berlin

Awful place because of the staff.

We got inside at 17:40 and they had closed more than the half of the bar. No one was inside and they only had 6 sits available. They closed the rest to clean... when they supposed to be open until 19h, closing 90 min before to wipe the floor??? Unbelievable!

Behind the counter was a girl with blue/ purple hair who was really rude and totally not friendly. She obviously doesn’t like her job and she seemed annoyed by us. After 15 min inside, more people came in and the staff told them that they only had chairs to sit (the ones they were using to create a barrier between the entrance and the tables. More and more people came inside and they didn’t open the side were the tables are, were other 15 people could fit easily to sit and eat.

It’s an expensive bar and they don’t have toilets. Go to the bar next door,...

I don't understand the negative reviews. This place is a wonderful option to have right next to the Starbucks (for those of us who don't like to patronize corporate establishments which we find in droves back home in our towns). The service personnel were efficient and kind, and the beverages and goodies to eat were of a much higher quality than the packaged products from the big "S." I understand the dilemma of the "cash only" policy for some tourists, but most guidebooks and online portals inform the potential visitor that Germany is not strictly a "mit Karte bezahlen" country --- occasionally you must have currency and change on you to do "bar bezahlen."Maybe the cash vs.credit card situation is a contributor to Germany's strong economy, I dunno. Sandwiches, coffee and pastries were all quite yummy. Service friendly and quick. There’s not much seating. It’s really just a place to grab a quick snack if you’re hungry between touring places. We needed a pick me up between visiting The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and our afternoon reservations at the Reichstag. This place more than met that need. It does take credit cards and we didn’t feel the items were that much more expensive than elsewhere nor were we charged more for eating in as other prior reviewers had mentioned.
