I would give absolute zero if I could. For me dining out is an experience, which is made great by how the staff treats you in the restaurant from sitting you down to taking your order. My wife and I went there on Saturday afternoon at about 3:30 PM. We were looking to get a table outside. It was hardly 30% occupied at that stage. We went inside the hotel to get attention of anyone from the staff so that they can sit us down outside. A girl, who was a receptionist and assigning people the table, told us to go outside and talk to a staff outside, as supposedly it wasn’t her business to assign the table to people in the outside area. We went outside and waited to get attention of someone from the staff. Meanwhile, the same girl from the inside of the restaurant brings two separate couples from inside and sat them down. I remained calm until that point and managed to get attention of someone who was serving outside to allocate us a table. All the while when 70% of tables were still empty. Finally a staff member sat us down on a table only to come to us again after 5 mins to ask us to move to another table. The reasoning given to us was that they had just set up a few tables which could sit 2. And, we were the first one they thought should be asked to move while other couples were still sitting on the table of 4. At that point I felt totally dejected. I didn’t understand what was going on. We were the only brown people in the otherwise all White guests, who we thought were getting preferential treatment as compared to us. There has hardly been any restaurant which made me feel so pathetic in first few minutes of being in the restaurant.
The food was not bad
I made sure that i give them a good tip to probably help change their view about Brown people. I still felt the need to write this review to vent my feelings. We were in Berlin for 3 days trip and this experience really impacted it...
Read moreI will start with the most prominent things a walk-in customer notices when he/she enters the restaurant, along with the positive points; Firstly, I would like congratulate the investor to have such a beautiful restaurant at a extremely prime location. Secondly the menu is designed fairly good. The negative points are as follows, We were group of 5 people, we found a table empty near the bar counter and unfortunately it was not clean, secondly the menu came to us after long waiting, the waiters were simply ignoring us. The male waiter who approached us was rude and condescending. He was making these judgmental sounds when we were discussing what to order with him and on confirming the order with him he was patronizing with muming sounds. Next is the waiting time, it took extremely long for our order to arrive, and when we try to approach our waiter he was literally avoiding us and then we spoke to a female waiter she was very helpful and kind and professional, and she infirmed us that order was not processed and we can even see arguments taking place among kitchen staff as soon as she came out from kitchen. Once the order arrived, we were hoping that it would change our mood but it made it worst. It seems like it was cooked without heart above all by an amateur chef and actually chef did not had any idea about the dishes we ordered, even by watching YouTube I can make better than your chef, It was the worst experience ever in my life. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT TO VISIT...
Read moreThe waiter is incredibly rude. We ordered two tiramisu for take away. The restaurant charged us for packaging charges. When the waiter brought the package, he did not put any spoon. I requested for the spoon and he brought something disposable which was closer to the toothpick than the spoon. I asked how would I eat using this, he became defensive and said this is all we have. I told him that in that case we will have it here. He gave us the table and while bringing the spoons, he said don't take the spoons with you. I found that incredibly impolite and rude. Do you guys always ask your every guest to not take away the spoons. Or was that an exception. If your restaurant is not prepared for takeaways you should communicate that. If you charge for something you should provide proper service. If you think your need to communicate things like don't take away spoons, it is better to write it. Saying that individually after serving the food is an appetite killer. I never had any waiter tell me that before in all the restaurants I have been to. Truly disgraceful. At Brandenburger Tor, the restaurant and its service is a disgrace to the entire city.
Finally tiramisu was just OK. Did we enjoy it....
