Komine undoubtedly has some amazing artisanal cakes that are not easily matched by other pastry shops. They offer interesting cake creations as well as some delectable classics (such as the wonderfully light and delicious San Sebastian cheesecake). Unfortunately, Komine is cursed with just subpar service. It is usually crowded and getting a table spontaneously is basically impossible. Even just buying take-out can be an exercise in public humiliation. When we visited, we wanted to order for take-out some of their cakes that were displayed in their cake cabinet, but we were told that they had already been reserved. This is ridiculous. If some of your products are no longer for sale, don't display them. And having to pre-order cake to be able to get any cake at all just tells me that they are not producing enough cake. Maybe they would also be able to reduce their sky-high prices if they offered more supply for the...
Read moreBest cakes in Berlin so far! I enjoyed the Japanese x French pastries a lot. I come from Asia and do prefer French and Japanese styles of cakes. Komine made my day.
We took away 5 different cakes. When arriving around 3 pm on Saturday, I was lucky no queue in front of me. However, after I picked the cakes (8 mins after entering the shop) there were 6 people at least queued behind me. The seats in the cafe were all taken. They are making a really good business for sure. In a way, good guarantee for tasty deserts!
We had canele, Mont Blanc, early grey mousse and the pomelo cakes. We are happy with them all. Very sophisticated, nice texture and well balanced between freshness and sweetness.
The packaging was well handled as well. We purchase around 3pm and only got home at 6 pm. The cakes were still Ina good shape!
We were very happy with the cakes and will go back again try other...
Read moreKomine is such a nice cafe. It’s small, very cozy and everyone is service oriented. You don’t have to ask blankets for outside, they are just hanging there. The moment you sit down, you get water. In terms of experience - amazing.
We had the Hot chocolate and Hoijcha with a Choux aux Noix and a Yuzu Cheesecake. Everything was really well made. It wasn’t overly sweet and had amazing flavour. The pastries themselves have been made really well, especially the choux. I’ve tried quite a bit of choux in Berlin and this is definitely one of the best choux pastries.
However, the highlight was the Canelé. We got 2 of them To-Go. The surprised face we had when there was a crunch when biting into them says it all. Most of the Canelé we had in Berlin never had this nice caramelised exterior. Komine has by far the best Canelé in Berlin.
Will be going back to try the rest of the...
