As someone who works around the corner in one of the office buildings I used to get lunch here frequently before the COVID-19 forced us to work from home. I am not writing this review because of the quality of the food; I love the fresh bowls! However, I want to share my feedback on today’s visit. It was my first time back after 3 months and looked forward to enjoying a custom made bowl from Chupenga. I was therefore also very happy to see they opened up again after the COVID-19 crisis. I ordered my bowl, however I noticed that the choice of ingredients was limited. Understandable, I thought. But I was very unpleasantly surprised to notice that the price of the bowl was raised from €8,20 to a whopping €9,60. Plus the employee was extremely stingy with the ingredients that I chose for my bowl. Overall I have to say I was really disappointed with this. I understand that the Corona crisis has hit restaurants hard, but to raise your prices with 17% and clearly giving less food for this price is not the way to get back your customers. Again, I want to express that I’ve always enjoyed my weekly bowl from Chupenga but with the price raise and stinginess they’ve lost a...
Read moreGreat 'lunch' location, tasty good, just staff needs to improve. Chupenga is located right across the East Side Gallery and around the corner from the Mercedes-Benz-Arena. It's a new place, sourounded by other shops and restaurants. The food ordering process resembles Subway, being able to choose the basic foundation (plate, tacos, tortilla), adding all other ingredients after. For example, a burrito of your choice is the result. Recommend constellations are available. Food was tasty and portions were big enough. We came in for dinner, however it wasn't crowded at all. It rather seems to be a lunch place, according to the food offer and architecture. Staff seemed to be bored, but warmed up over our stay. Anyways, you should always smile while serving guests. Only this way you make sure, they come back. The prices are ok, but not the cheapest. We had a 'fresh water' which was pricly fair (2€) with the option to refill. Lastly, the architecture is based on wood, what makes it charming, but bit rough. Besides, it's nicely decorated. One unisex toilet is available on site. You can also visit this place with bigger groups. Enough...
Read moreFood is great, service is poor, prices are outrageous. Burritos and bowls are fantastic - great meat, fresh tasting ingredients, and really decent salsa. To properly enjoy it, you'd have to be rather rich and really patient though: The line moves slowly and as a customer, it just feels disrespectful to see two people in front of you being served and the next person from the service staff entirely ignoring you because they are tending to some Wolt order. This could be better handled by prepping delivery orders in the back. Asking for extra payment for Guacamole is understandable; charging an extra buck for salsa if you've opted for tomatoes and corn is rather audicious in my eyes. Expect to pay around 10 Euros for a great, but overpriced salad or burrito. Or choose one of the many options nearby that offer way better value for money and more respectful and customer...
