Just ok - I expected more since it was Michelin starred in 2022, especially service wise. Food is ok but nothing remarkable. They sell bottled still water in their 'own' bottle at 2.5 euros - it tastes like tap water, which maybe I am wrong. Yet, if I pay for water in a restaurant, I would pay more than 2.5 euros and make sure to get the quality water? (I only drink water while eating). Also, I had weekday lunch only near 2pm, so close to closing time which I know - but after 2:30pm, as many customers left, they made all noise to tidy up around the restaurant like we are transparent. Is the break time supposed to be for this, as the customers are present in the dining hall during 'lunch' hours? And as the kitchen closes, even chefs (seem so or staffs i don't know) came out and chilled out at the dining hall checking phones with us. Wow. And what shocked me the most was that one staff (although very friendly) kicked(like really kicking & banging) the kitchen door with his feet like he barges in to the crime scene, whenever back/forth through the kitchen to get the food and you can just see it right there while customers are present. (The kitchen entrance is facing the dining hall so you can see it). I've never seen such a staff's behavior so called 'fine restaurant'. I know this is not like super-duper fancy one but at least I expect certain quality of service and behavior. The interior is very modern and service is friendly but this kind of service attitude is definitely not up to 'Michelin' restaurant. I would just call 'Casual dining' and worth 3 star review. (Or they think if the food is ok with good ingredients, people here usually don't care? hmm)
Although I know Berlin's service quality is usually surprisingly below any average in the major city dining scenes, as you think about the price of the menu or the value they want to convey to the customer (at least outwardly), they seriously re-consider what refined dining restaurant should aim for. If I sound harsh, I really wonder staffs or owner even has experienced what find restaurant service should be in other major cities like Tokyo, Hong-kong, London, NYC etc. (I don't accept the excuse 'oh this is Germany' since I also experience pleasant services especially in many fine restaurants around the south...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Diekmann, and it was an experience to remember. This restaurant offers a signature cuisine that truly stands out, with each dish crafted to perfection. The menu is small, but it works in their favor, ensuring that every option is of the highest quality. Each dish was delicious, leaving me eager to try everything on future visits. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're a foodie or just looking for a great meal, Diekmann is definitely...
Read moreİt's not easy to find food and service worth the price in this city. But Diekmann is a big exception. İt's the first time here, having lived close by for the last three years but it won't be the last. The food was exceptional. Everything was well seasoned and presented. The service was also great. Something else I also value that they did is that there was a pleasant amount of time between courses. Nothing was rushed. We have tried: oysters, ravioli, Lupe de Mare and the pulpo. Plus the white asparagus. Very happy....
