Espresso House — Restaurant in Berlin

After my absolutely horrid experience at the espresso house in CPH airport I made it a point to visit espresso house in Berlin as well, since I was going there anyways.

As always I ordered an Americano with half the water, in a small cup. I know americano is a deviance in coffee, but it's a good measure on whether the ingredients and skill is sufficiently good.

I did get a smaller cup. I did get the reduced amount of water. The coffee itself is seemingly medium roasted, higher than medium bitterness, in most ways a perfectly acceptable cup of Joe. Did they use instant coffee? No. - That's the main difference. This is average, not insanely sub-par. And that's great!

If anything, get nicer cups.

Service was quick and easy going. Coffee is average, I am content with this experience. My conclusion: Espresso house is alright. Next up: Is there espresso house in BER Airport. Look forward to checking them out...

I hope the staffs read this. I use this cafe at least 3 days a week. Most of the staff are friendly but this is something that I’d like to see improved. On a busy morning I got the wrong beverage different from my order so I immediately told the female barista. She kept making the next round of coffees even though she noticed it. When I repeatedly said ‘This is not what I ordered’, she said she just takes orders from the screen and makes them, so I should go back to the cashier and say something there or whatever. Customers don’t care whose mistake it is. Shouldn’t they have to remake it or at least say anything nicer? The unkindness of leaving the wrong beverage on the table like telling the customer to take it or leave it made me think this employee doesn’t belong in...

A contradiction of a place with the highest highs and lowest lows. Some of their drinks are amazing: the chai latte is one of the best around. Some are not: the berry smoothie was like gravel because it was made of what seemed to be seeds and kids fruit punch. Some of the food is amazing: the Christmas special chai bun and cheese and chive pretzels are really nice. Some is not: every sandwich I've had is oddly sweet; sweetened mayo, sweet sauces, and their chocolate caramel cake was oddly textured like glutenous rice; all sticky, no flavor. Also, I've ordered carrot cake twice and received it neither time because they're sold out? No longer carry it? I don't know, but they should either remove items they don't carry from their menu, or make more...
