Extremely disappointed. I went there because I wanted a classic hamburger with the Beyond Burger patty. The regular hamburger is 7.90, but with the Beyond patty it's 11.90! This is compared to the deluxe burgers which are ~11.90 for the regular version and only 12.90 with the Beyond patty. I understand these specialty patties cost more than beef, but four euros extra is in no way justified. So I went with a fancy sounding truffle burger instead, so at least I would only be paying one euro extra. The burger came with the two smallest slices of tomato I've seen - covering about 20% of the bun - and they were cut from the ends of the tomato. The amount of mayo on the burger was the size of a sugar cube, with no detectable truffle flavor. Half of my bites had no toppings at all, which in a place where they have a multi euro markup specifically for toppings, makes the diner feel ripped off. It also makes a restaurant look pathetic when it seems that they're trying to save money by skimping on ketchup, mayo, and tomatoes. My friend got a burger with avocado and again, the amount of avocado looked like a joke. On the plus side, the fries were a satisfying thickness and fried perfectly, and the patty was nicely charred. Read moreWhen they say you should never visit the kitchen of your favourite restaurant, there's a really good reason for it. Firstly, I absolutely love the burgers at Grindhouse and it's my go-to place in Berlin but my visit yesterday and what I witnessed by the cooks in the kitchen means I'll never ever return.
It was a very quiet service, just two tables including mine and plenty of takeaway (I regularly visit and order takeout as it's close to where I live). The kitchen is open and the lack of good hygiene has completely put me off ever eating here again.
3 cooks working - all doing other things like taking out rubbish, using their phone, rubbing their hand through their hair and face- all fine but not once did they wash their hands before handling food. The worst incident by the guy in the glasses and long hair... HE PICKED HIS NOSE AND WENT STRAIGHT TO THE GRILL TO COOK AND I SAW HIM HANDLING FOOD (TAKEOUT ORDERS). Honestly, I just wanted to leave. It's annoying because now I have to find another burger place. And yes, I get that this happens everywhere but when you see it with your own eyes, you can't unsee it.

Service was extremely slow; we had to wait around 30 minutes to get served. Then even more time to get our food. But this is not a problem of the staff; they were doing everything they could and were still keeping a positive spirit. But the restaurant is extremely understaffed. This place should definitely have more than 2 waiters at the peak time.
