We had lunch today at Hen Factory. The food itself was okay - the rice was a bit watery, but overall the dishes were decent. However, the service was truly disappointing and left a very unpleasant impression. We ordered three portions of Bibimbap, one portion of kimchi, and three drinks. Along with the food, we were served the usual small side dishes kimchi and one other. I asked the waitress when I would receive the large kimchi portion I had ordered, and she replied that the small ones were the only kimchi provided. I politely explained that I had ordered a separate portion, and after some discussion, she finally brought it. What surprised me later was that when we paid and I checked the receipt, I noticed we had been charged for two portions of kimchi. As far as I know and based on previous visits to the earlier location near Zoo Palast - the small kimchi sides are always included with Bibimbap. I was very disappointed to see this handled so poorly, both in communication and billing. More concerning was the staff’s attitude: they were rude, forgetful, and unprofessional throughout our visit. Some drinks listed in the menu weren’t available, part of the order was forgotten, and there was no apology or effort to make the experience better. If the people working today were the owners, I hope they reflect on how damaging this kind of service can be not only to casual customers, but also to those who might share honest feedback publicly. Unfortunately, this visit left a bad impression, and neither I nor my family or friends plan to return. I truly hope the management takes this seriously and improves the experience for...
Read moreA very sad 2nd location to Han BBQ, which is on our top 3 K-BBQ locations in Berlin. Does not even come close to the quality in all aspects.
We made a reservation, arrived to find out there is a full menu with individual plates and appetizers- but only the BBQ is available. Then the Korean beers were also not chilled, despite there being endless crates around the restaurant. We placed our order, and then we got 3 out of the 4 drinks, as well as the plate of meat, side dishes and lettuce. We reminded the staff that we were missing cutlery and the drinks. The stove was on so we started grilling despite the lack of utensils, and the gas ran out.
We informed the staff of this so it could be replaced, as well as a reminder of the still missing drink, utensils and the dips which we realized also never arrived. The staff then proceeded to take the empty canister and not return, leaving our meat half cooked for 10 minutes, while we addressed yet again another staff to get our things. We were more than half way through our meal when we got everything on our table.
Like other reviews, the stove tops do not have a proper minimum setting so we kept getting burned by the splashing oil. When requesting help from the staff, they simply turned it off and walked away. We decided to not take the second plate as the service made us feel extremely unwelcome. After paying and checking the prices, we realized some of the dips might have counted as extras, even though they are crucial part of the samgyeopsal experience.
Would not recommend this location and will not be...
Read moreWorst Korean restaurant experience I’ve ever had (that includes visits to Seoul, Berlin, London, São Paulo, and New York). Don’t be fooled by the high rating: read the negative reviews to understand what really goes on here.
The beef barbecue (€42,50) came with four pieces of meat with flavor and texture that were just okay, about three slices of mushroom (literally less than a single mushroom!), half a corn cob (we were two people and had to split an already small half), a few slices of zucchini, and three slices of potato. Also a lot of unwashed lettuce and a bowl of rice.
The banchan consisted of a minimal amount of kimchi, three slices of garlic (?), and a bit of radish. We decided to ask for more banchan, so I simply said, “Could we get a bit more banchan?”. In other restaurants, they usually inform you of any extra charges (for example, at Galbi, also in P-Berg, each order comes with one extra banchan free of charge). Here, the server just replied “of course”, without mentioning any cost. We were served the same tiny portions again and, to our surprise, we later found out we had been charged €3.50 for that.
Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Berlin has an excellent selection of Korean restaurants these days, and plenty of honest people doing great work and actually looking to build a loyal customer base.
This review will likely be buried (and quickly) under a flood of positive ones, as often happens on Google Maps. Once again, don’t be misled: read the...
