Pinch Breakfast/ Cafe — Restaurant in Berlin

Confused about all the good reviews. I had such a bad experience here. I ordered my sandwich and Americano, asked about the cash only rule and said I might have to cancel because there was a sign saying “only cash,” they said it’s fine if I use my card, so I sat down. I waited for at least 20 minutes and saw everyone get their food, even those that came after me, and I was so confused. I asked, and they said they thought I was someone that left? But clearly I’ve been sitting there the whole time. The man said he’ll make my sandwich and it’s in the process, so I reluctantly sat down. Waited 5 minutes, sandwich came out, it literally was not what I ordered. I asked and sent it back, no apologies; she just said “ok” and took it, and then I left. Infuriating morning. My friend who did get his sandwich said it was so mediocre - the bread was the only thing that was good, but everything else was so average. I don’t think this place warrants all the positive reviews. Do not come here if you are running short on time or looking for...

Can't even give it any stars at all. I'm not sure if it's because we were English, but we ordered crepes and coffee. Coffee took a while to come out, I had to remind the lady that the order actually existed. 40 minutes go past and we see others that have ordered after us getting eggs, toast ect (all of which were told had a longer wait.) I went in to ask and the lady reassured me they were just being made and were coming. 15 minutes pass and nothing- apart from every body elses food of course. Don't bother if you're a tourist. We went in and asked for a refund because at this point it had been an hour. Lady said she must of 'forgot...' Convenient, considering I reminded her 15 minutes before. Even while she gave us the refund she couldn't care less. Not apologetic at all, and worst of it .. she must have lied as there were no crepes being prepared whatsoever. Thanks a lot Berlin... the most unwelcoming...

I used to work just down the road from this place so I would be here most days I was in the office. There's a reason that I kept coming back.

The sandwich selection is fantastic. There are many flavourful combinations that go beyond the standard 'mozzarella and tomato' that you can get anywhere: tuna and apple, brie and walnut, orange chicken, it's all delicious. Trust me, I tried them.

The pasta is also homemade and very fresh, much better than many cafes I went to in Berlin.

Finally, the staff are so nice. I often chatted with the owner (and promised I'd leave a review when I left in July, so sorry about that!) and he's such a nice bloke. He's genuinely interested in gastronomy and offering a great experience to people, and it shows.
