I had a one day stopover in Berlin and decided to make my way to Rausch since it was so highly rated on Google Reviews. The shop front was impressive but my experience at the cafe was a total disappointment. I was served by this bald headed male waiter (pardon my description as I could not get his name) and he was extremely impatient in taking my order. First time I told him to wait, he was alright. The second time when he came for my order, I actually asked for a recommendation - I'm guessing he misheard it as wait as he "humph" , turned his back and stomped away. It was only when I called him back that he realise his mistake. This was not all, I ordered a cake, before he could write it down, he asked if I am ordering ONLY A CAKE? I was about to order drinks but of course, he couldn't wait. Finally when I asked for the bill, it was âŹ16.50, gave him a âŹ20 and he asked if he could keep it all????? This is forced tips right? Especially for such poor service.
Honestly, the ground floor staff was many times more helpful, they held the door for me even though they're closing and yes, I was more than glad to spend âŹ100 there just because of their courtesy and respect for customers. I hope Rausch would consider replacing that waiter as I am pretty clear from the other reviews and my experience there that I am not the only one complaining. Without the poor service, this would have been a 5 stars review with beautiful pictures...
Read moreSomeone asked us what we expected to buy in Berlin, we told them we expected good chocolate. They recommended this place, which happened to be near our hotel. We bought a box of chocolate for a friend. After we came back to the US and ate it with our friends, we understood why fresh German chocolate is so good, even better than German chocolate in the US.
I wished they offered tasting samples, we would have bought 2 or 3 more boxes if we had known it was that good.
If youâre looking for a souvenir gift, buy these chocolate instead of a mug or some magnets. Your friends will truly thank you for it.
There are large chocolate bars for about $5 and a box of chocolate is about $20. You get to pick the flavors you like. Most have some alcohol or coffee in them, but some donât.
Be warned, the store us constantly busy. There is a long line to get serviced, so they have prepackaged boxes for the same price. I suggest you wait for the service, where they explain the selections. We went twice, the first time the wait was unbelievable, so we left. The second time was raining and there were almost no customers and the shopping experience was very pleasant. They even gift wrapped the box for us, with a card from the service...
Read moreRating the chocolates 5 stars. But OMG the STAFF is the WORRSSSTT.
They couldn't be bothered to pay more than 15 seconds of attention to us who wanted to ask more about the chocolates. Since I wanted to buy a box for my parents, I relented and asked them to pack one of the readymade ones but they turned around. When I asked what was the problem, they told me to pay for the box first as if I was gonna run away with it out of the store, next I went to the counter to pay for it, the cashier looked at me, went to get the box and held it tight against her, making reeeaally sure I would pay for the chocalates (eye roll) before I walked out of the store!! All in all it was a humiliating experience visiting the store. Our tour guide raved about the chocalates so we wanted to try but I will not be going back.
I thought the staff might be racist because of me being Indian but then I read other reviews here so I guess its common problem??? Requesting the store owner to inculcate decency into your staff that are managing and representing this much...
