THE WALL - asisi Panorama — Attraction in Berlin

Ciekawa wizja artysty w połączeniu z dokumentacją fotograficzną. Instalacja może (tak jak mnie) zainspirować do głębszego zapoznania się z tematyką muru: *) Patrząc się od lewej strony widzimy skrzyżowanie ulic Sebastianstrasse i Luckauer Strasse. Po lewej jest budynek należący do West Berlin a po prawej mur "czwartej generacji". Chodnik pomiędzy nimi należał do... Berlina Wschodniego. Władze NRD grzecznościowo "użyczyły" ten fragment ulicy mieszkańcom kamienicy. Ciekawy musiał być status prawny tego obszaru. W razie "awantury" policja wschodnia nie mogła interweniować, gdyż chodnik de facto leżał już po "drugiej stronie" muru. Z kolei policja zachodnia też nie mogła tam wchodzić, gdyż trotuar administracyjnie należał do NRD... *) Idziemy dalej. Na wprost mamy dzisiejszy Alfred-Doblin-Platz (w oddali bryła St.-Michael-Kirche). *) Nieco w prawo stacja Shell. Czy była za czasów muru to nie wiem, obecnie puste miejsce między budynkami (jeden z domów, ten przy Dresdener Strasse 27 stoi do dzisiaj). Wprawne oko zauważy na panoramie, że przy stacji benzynowej są afisze reklamujące dyskotekę "Sound". Co to jest tak "Sound" - zapraszam do lektury "Christian F., My dzieci z dworca Zoo". *) Na zakończenie, po prawej stronie panoramy jest fragment Dresdener Strasse. O ile lewa (wschodnio - południowa) pierzeja ulicy jest zgodna z rzeczywistością to prawa (czyli zachodnio - południowa) już całkiem inna. Np. lokal "Gemutliche Ecke" w rzeczywistości znajduje się przy Otawistrasse 21 (czyli ok. 10 km na płn. miasta). Budynki na rogu Dresdener Strasse i Sebastianstrasse mają inną fasadę i formę. Pompa wodna widoczna na chodniku z kolei stoi obecnie przy Alfred-Doblin-Platz.

Ulice prezentowane na instalacji znajdują się jakieś 2 km na wschód od "The Wall Asisi Panorama" Eine interessante Vision des Künstlers kombiniert mit fotografischer Dokumentation. Die Installation könnte Sie (wie mich) dazu inspirieren, mehr über das Thema Wände zu erfahren: *) Von links sehen wir die Kreuzung Sebastianstraße und Luckauer Straße. Auf der linken Seite befindet sich ein Gebäude, das zu West-Berlin gehört, und auf der rechten Seite befindet sich eine Mauer der „vierten Generation“. Der Bürgersteig zwischen ihnen gehörte... Ostberlin. Die DDR-Behörden „verliehen“ diesen Straßenabschnitt höflich den Bewohnern des Mietshauses. Der rechtliche Status dieses Gebiets muss interessant gewesen sein. Im Falle eines „Aufstands“ konnte die Ostpolizei nicht eingreifen, da der Gehweg eigentlich auf der „anderen Seite“ der Mauer lag. Auch dort wiederum konnte die Westpolizei nicht eindringen, da der Gehweg verwaltungsmäßig zur DDR gehörte... *) Lass uns weitermachen. Ich grüße Sie herzlich am Alfred-Döblin-Platz (mit der St.-Michaels-Kirche). *) Etwas rechts von der Shell-Tankstelle. Ob es während des Mauerbaus dort war, weiß ich nicht, jetzt ist es eine leere Fläche zwischen den Gebäuden (alle sind zu Hause, zehn in der Dresdener Straße 27 stehen heute noch). Ein scharfes Auge bemerkte im Panorama, dass an der Tankstelle Plakate für die Disco „Sound“ hingen. Sie können auch „Ton“ lesen – lesen Sie „Christian F., Meine Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo“. *) Wie Sie sehen, handelt es sich bei dem Panorama um ein Fragment der Dresdener Straße. Während die linke (Ost-Süd) Frontseite der Straße mit der Realität übereinstimmt, ist die rechte (West-Süd) Frontseite völlig anders. Beispielsweise befindet sich vor Ort „Przytulny Zakątek“ in der Nähe der Otawistraße 21 (ca. 10 km vom Gebiet entfernt). Die Gebäude an der Ecke Dresdener Straße/Sebastianstraße können eine andere Fassade und Form haben. Die Wasserpumpe auf dem Bürgersteig befindet sich am Alfred-Döblin-Platz.

GDR authorities officially referred to the Berlin Wall as the Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart (German: Antifaschistischer Schutzwall), by implication equating the NATO countries (and West Germany in particular) with fascists. The West Berlin city government sometimes referred to it as the "Wall of Shame", a term coined by mayor Willy Brandt in reference to the Wall's restriction on freedom of movement.6] Along with the separate and much longer Inner German border (IGB), which demarcated the border between East and West Germany, it came to symbolize physically the "Iron Curtain" that separated Western Europe and the Eastern Bloc during the Cold War.[5]

Before the Wall's erection, 3.5 million East Germans circumvented Eastern Bloc emigration restrictions and defected from the GDR, many by crossing over the border from East Berlin into West Berlin; from there they could then travel to West Germany and to other Western European countries. Between 1961 and 1989 the Wall prevented almost all such emigration.[7] During this period over 100,000[5] people attempted to escape and over 5,000 people succeeded in escaping over the Wall, with an estimated death toll ranging from 136[8] to more than 200[9 in and...

Asisi Panometer Berlin (€10 per person) is an innovative attraction at Checkpoint Charlie that makes for a nice complement to the variety of museums and Berlin Wall related landmarks in the area.

Visitors will see a large panoramic image of a divided Berlin, from the vantage point of a ground floor and second floor platform in West Berlin, looking into no man's land between the Wall and then into East Berlin.

The Panorama Wall takes on an almost 3-dimension scene from the 1980s. You will see people living normal lives on the West Berlin side, wondering what it must be like to be and live on the Eastern side. The lights are dimmed from time to time, focusing on particular areas of the Panorama Wall. You will hear neighbourhood sounds that help create atmosphere as well.

You can comfortable see the Panorama Wall for 10-20 minutes before or after visiting the Blackbox, Museum Haus am Checkpoint Charlie and the landmark Checkpoint Charlie.
