We visited this place due to it serving glutefrei pizza. The service was not excellent though, when we arrived there was no staff around and so we had to stand there and wait for someone to appear. Turns out they were outside and had seen us come in but did not come in to serve us straight away. We had to sit outside, the bar chairs are quite uncomfortable due to being too tall for the table and being on quite a lean due to an uneven footpath. The service improved over the course of our meal however, at the end of our meal after our dishes had been cleared, the owner came over to our table and put his food right in front of us and stood there and ate. It felt a bit strange as we were trying to have a conversation and he and his friend just stood there and interrupted us. I really like the idea of the place, it has a cool ambiance but the small things which weren't quite up to scratch ruined it a bit. The pizza...
Read moreI try gluten-free pizza wherever I travel. Simela offers a buckwheat pizza that is gluten-free. I've had this pizza many many times as there are no other (gluten-free pizza) options in the area. The buckwheat pizza is edible. Don't expect it to taste like a "normal" pizza - buckwheat has a distinct taste. The way Simela prepares the dough, it is very thin, completely dry and crisp on the edges (often burnt). It has not risen and it has no chewiness. Personally, I can eat their buckwheat pizza once a month but it always leaves me partially unsatisfied. With just a little bit of experimentation (yeast, tapioca, psyllium husk etc.) they could easily improve their gluten-free dough (even while preserving a strong buckwheat component in the recipe). Two stars for the taste, one star because I can rely on them delivering gluten-free food to...
Read moreI had a gluten free (buckwheat) pizza here. The gluten free pizzas are typically more than gluten free pizzas and are about 1/4 of the thickness (almost like a wrap) but the toppings were delicious and made up for the base which I felt was a little tasteless. I really appreciate them catering for coeliacs and they also do gluten free desert, however I was too full for these. We also payed in cash and were not offered change. It was only around €5 euros but it was not stated it was being provided as a tip beforehand. The server we had seemed disinterested in us and we had to try very hard to get the bill. Overall, I appreciate the offering of gluten free for a coeliac however I would not...
