Gainsbourg Le Club - Bar Americain — Restaurant in Berlin

Ordered a beer passing by….asked for the bill and to pay by card and the rude waiter who walked around all night like a Kaiser said it was a minimum €15 to pay by card…..nowhere in the menu/doorway does it say this. Presumed manager behind the bar was arguing backing this up and told him to call the Polizei because the bar is fraudulent. The waiter said to me he told me he told me it is €15 by card when I sat down….I called him a liar and he tried to grab me. I pushed him away and the manager’ said he is in the phone to the Polizei as I called his Waiter a liar…I waited as I looked forward to being arrested for calling him a liar and to point out this horrible bar did not have appropriate signage for their payment requirements. I waited for the Polizei for 10mins after the ‘manager’ said he was calling them. No one turned up…. This manager grabbed a plastic cup and tried to grab the beer in my hand and tell me it Needs to be taken away after asking me where I was from….. I told him I’m from England and to go away as I’ve done nothing wrong and I will sit at the bar and drink the rest of my beer I’ve paid for and wait for the Polizei to come….10-15 mins later, no one turned up. I had finished my beer. I said auf wiedersehen to the manager and he looked at the floor as I left.

Racist manager and egotistical waiter who thinks he’s the bees knees….

Avoid if a tourist as the treatment of other locals in the bar is different…..so immature to treat people differently in a bar in the centre of what was West Germany…..this bar acts as though it belongs in East Berlin in the 60’s!!!!

To the Polizei, I’m at The Hoxton, Charlottenburg for the next 2 nights before I fly back to London and I would love to talk about this fraudulent bar.l that treated me like a criminal for wanting to pay for a beer by card.

To any tourist/local like….Avoid...

DO NOT GO HERE visited this bar with my friends and have never been treated so rudely in my life. We were told by the bar man (Denis) that we were only allowed to order certain drinks and the drinks we were allowed were highly over priced (12 euros for a vodka mixer). I asked for a beer and my friends ordered cokes. In response to our order Denis rudely told us that 'this is not kindergarten and if we're not going to drink alcohol then we must leave'. After asking why we weren't allowed to order these drinks he began shouting and swearing at us shouting 'ladies ladies get out'. Ich schreibe normalerweise keine Bewertungen, aber was uns da letzten Samstag passiert ist, schießt den Vogel ab : Wir haben für unsere Gruppe am Samstagnachmittag einen Tisch reserviert , wurde bestätigt. Wir kommen dann abends bei Regen und 8° Celsius dort an, und der durch und durch unfreundliche „Türsteher“ hat uns dann wohl aufgrund von anscheinenden Wortfindungsschwierigkeiten mit großen Pupillen klargemacht, dass die Reservierung ohne ersichtlichen Grund storniert wurde, wir uns ja aber draußen hinsetzen können. Um dann noch so zu tun, als wäre der besagte Türsteher der Messias, wurden wir ,komplizierter als es hätte sein müssen, an einen expliziten Tisch zwischen ganzen Reihen freier Tische gesetzt. Der Kellner hat den Vogel dann abgeschossen ; zunächst wirkte auch er so, als wäre er nicht mehr ganz Herr seiner Sinne, und seine Schiebermütze konnte nicht von den großen Pupillen ablenken. Unfreundlich bei der Aufnahme der Bestellung, hektisch und teilweise ignorant. Während wir dann für unsere relativ kleine Bestellung unverhältnismäßig lange gewartet haben, haben wir typisch für ein Sit-In in einer Bar ein Kartenspiel gespielt. Der besagt unfreundliche Kellner kam dann irgendwann immer noch ohne die Bestellung und erzählte uns O-Ton : „Wir sind eine Szene-Bar, packt die Karten mal weg. Wir sagen hier jedem, dass hier keine Karten gespielt werden sollen.“ Zuerst hielten wir es, zum Kellner passend, für einen schlechten Scherz, er bestand aber ernsthaft darauf und damit war diese Bar für uns gegessen. Wir haben daraufhin die Bestellung storniert und können jedem nur empfehlen, diese „Szene-Bar“...
