Three animal eaters looking for a Vietnamese restaurant here that no longer exists. Ended up staying out of curiosity. Menu was extensive, with a mix of vegetable dishes, and others using plant based meats. We ordered the Dan Dan noodles, wood ear/mu er/morchelsalat?, wonton soup, water spinach with garlic sauce, three cup mushroom/San Bei Gu, yuxiang eggplant. Rationale for the above choices, if I’m going to a vegan restaurant, I’m there to eat veggies, so I tended to avoid dishes with plant based meats.
Food was delicious, would definitely recommend to my vegetarian and vegan friends. Favorites were both entrees: yuxiang eggplant and three cup mushrooms. I think they could have gone heavier on the king oyster and shiitake mushrooms versus the plain white ones.
Water spinach is one of my favorite green vegetables. It was good but my opinion is that they didn’t need to serve it on top of glass noodles. Also would love to see more Chinese green vegetables like this on the menu.
You honestly can’t go wrong with wood ear with black vinegar, and the Dan Dan noodles.
I definitely want to try more of their dumplings next time. Wontons in chili oil was good but I would skip the...
Read moreThis place is not authentic or Chinese. This was the selling point for me to come. The service was horrid, there was one waiter at the fully booked restaurant (evening time, all reservations in advance, no surprises, this is what they planned for). Waiting to get a menu, the waiter testified to have not tried any of the dishes so she can't recommend or help us decide between different options. Waiting time for the dishes was well over 30 min when we explicitly asked to get whatever is ready first because we are hungry. All dishes came at about the same time both firsts and main dishes. Cutlery was not provided before the dishes arrived, in fact, we asked for cutlery and then also had to get up and ask for it again while our food was already at the table. Taste-wise, bland. Not only was it not exciting or interesting, it was absolutely boring. After paying about 30 euro per person we went and got some fast food because we were still hungry. For seating they have these mini benches, hard flat wood, no place to hang up your coat or put it away, the toilet area was freezing cold, not warmed and...
Read moreI can’t wait to go back and eat here again. Apart from the service, which admittedly felt slow at times, the food came out quickly and was a real treat.
We had two starters: green beans with ginger and black vinegar sauce, as well as Dan Dan Mian, a warm noodle salad with pickled vegetables & mushrooms over a peanut-soy-chilli-oil dressing.
The taste from the main dish, Mapo Tofu, still lingers on in my heart. The dish was filled with flavour — silky tofu and just the right amount of heat from the Sichuan peppers.
If you’re going to go for a dessert, I suggest the Mango Chia seed pudding. The chia seeds expand in liquid, making it quite filling and, because of this, it’s great to share.
On a final note: keep in mind that you are limited in your gluten-free options when eating here. The menu does not say which dishes are gluten-free, so I’d recommend checking...
