I was honored for my family to see the important sites of Berlin today..but we wrapped up with a true cultural treasure find. We are among the lucky few to experience the David Hasselhoff Museum in Berlin. This gallery houses the spirit of the Cold War Victory in brilliant symbolism. With deft acknowledgement of the underground efforts by those in Eastern Berlin, the museum is cleverly placed in the basement of a youth hostile just left of the Water Closets. The icons of The Hoff's dacaded of Hollywood gold are cleverly contained in a 6 foot by 6 foot room in the spirit of German understated style. Building like a crescendo, the performer's career blossums into the fateful New Year's concert at the Wall in 1989 where a man, with a dream, and a magical piano scarf inspired a subjugated people to rise up for Freedome! My family and I will never forget. THANK YOU...
Read moreIn the basement of the Circus Hostel there is a secret and tiny museum that pays homage to David Hasselhoff. Yep. It was too funny not to go.
Full disclosure - if you're expecting to spend loads of time here, admiring the exhibits and getting a souvenir, then you don't need to bother. BUT if you're passing and wanting a giggle and need to use the toilet, this is a PERFECT stop.
There is no signage for this and honestly if you're not a Hoff fan, you might still quite enjoy this little break but if you know, you know! Staff in the lobby seem to expect people to wander down and check it out and if you're looking for a free thing to do in Berlin that has some decent loos, this is an option!
Hope they make...
Read moreA museum unlike any other. Its exquisite exposition on one of history's most consequential men is only matched by the enigma that is its location. The collection is impressive spanning the entire scope of the Hoff's impressive career. It is hard to capture the essence of the artist, musician, actor, diplomat, mensch, freedom fighter and man of the people that is David Hasselhoff but this museum takes a shot at that challenge and passes with flying colours. No visit to Berlin is complete without a visit. I dare say a visit is a failure if you miss it. I would give 500 stars...
