We came together 3 people. Can't eat together as the cook can make only 2 dishes at once. Waited in line for 30 minutes, then waited some more for the third dish.Lucky my I didn't want any salad as this would make me to wait another line. The system is broken and pointless!! It is such bs to wait in lines just to pay 10 euros for an average pasta. Who said this is a good idea to look at the tired, nervous, sweating cook making your pasta in front of you instead of sitting down, relaxing having something to drink while your food is being prepared and handed to you?! I will pay 2 more euros a tip to the waitress to do his job instead of me doing that job instead of enjoying my time at the table. The point in self service places is for them to be cheap and quick and vapiano failed in both of these areas. Suggestion to vapiano, hire more cooks!!! So the order will be faster the cook will not look exhausted and bittery or forget about your stupid concept of self serive! I have great concept for you as self service. Have tablets on or inside the tables and make let people make reservation form their seats and the only time they will to get up is to just come and get their food with their table number!!!!!! This way guests will rest and enjoy their time at the tables without standing in stupid lines. Keep the kitchen and the cooks away from site, no one wants to see them making your food. We come to see our friends and spend time with them at the table! The food was ok and I thought to come back there again but then I remembered the lines and the stupid system so I decided to go elsewhere until you change the broken...
Read moreWe ate here last night. It was a quick stop for food before going to a concert close by.
Apparently, this place was all the rage a few years ago and has become more popular but I was underwhelmed by the experience.
When you arrive you are given cards that you charge your food and drinks on to, and this system, I think works quite well as it means split bills can be arranged with great ease and only the person to, and this system, I think works quite well as it means split bills can be arranged with great ease and only the person with a card can add items onto it.
Menus were in German as well as in English.
You then queue to order your food from the appropriate slot, depending on if you are having salad, pasta or pizza. You could order soft drinks and water from the Chefs, but if you wanted to have alcohol there was a separate bar.
There was a huge range of fresh pasta and sauces and pizza to have and I made my mind up quite quickly.
Don't get me wrong, the food was excellent and exactly what we wanted, but the idea of waiting for your food to be cooked in front of me was a strange one. I would have prefered the usual restaurant setup and I would have ordered the same food but while enjoying the time waiting for the food to cook, talking to my partner and sitting down restaurant setup and I would have ordered the same food but while enjoying the time waiting for the food to cook, talking to my partner and sitting down.
The food as I said was very tasty, tables were clean and staff were very friendly.
Cheap and cheerful and I would...
Read moreOn the day we visited, the restaurant had been busy all afternoon on account of a football match. It was late afternoon when the queues at the door had disappeared and we decided to enter the restaurant. The cash desk was short of e-cards so I checked-in using the Vapiano app on my smartphone but it took about six attempts before the POS terminal recognised the QR code. The restaurant was still very busy inside and especially crowded around the chef stations - some people were clearly struggling to get through the queues of people whilst balancing food and drinks on trays. At the Pasta Station, the queue time was around ten minutes which past quickly because I was chatting to the customers in front of me. My first choice from the pasta menu wasn't available - the restaurant had run out of ingredients so I opted for "Filetto Di Manzo e Rucola". I never get tired of watching the food prepared in front of me. Unfortunately, the e-card reader at the Pasta Station did not recognise the QR-code on the Vapiano app so I had to nip back to the cashier to get an e-card anyway! So annoying! As I sat down at a table, the crowds had started to dissipate, however, my dining companion ended up waiting twenty-five minutes for his pizza to be ready. In the end, we both enjoyed our meals and the bill was very reasonable. I would visit again, however, Vapiano need to update the POS terminals and e-card readers to work better with the...
