Cinnamood Köln — Restaurant in Cologne

First off, I have to say that I really, really REALLY wanted to like this place. And, the place itself is great. It's really clean, reasonably priced, and I even noticed that most of their cinnamon rolls are vegan, if that's important to you. The staff were very nice, informative and helpful. It's the cinnamon rolls. I ran by to try it after randomly seeing a place dedicated to cinnamon rolls in Cologne. I LOVE cinnamon rolls. So, when I went, I just got the original cinnamon roll. And I have to say that I died on the inside after biting into it. It wasn't because it was "that bad", but it was far from good. I should also say that I'm an American, and yes, we have a sweeter tooth than Germans. The bread itself was perfection. It was super-soft and pillowy. But I might as well have been eating a dinner roll. There was barely any cinnamon flavor to it AT ALL. And if you're wanting a cinnamon roll, well, you're out of luck. The amount of icing that was on this roll also seemed like someone was going for the smallest possible amount of icing that you could possibly put on it, but still claim that it actually had icing. The flavor of what icing I could actually taste (there was really only icing on top in the very middle of the cinnomon roll) was very nice. I just wish that there had been more of it, or at least an even amount, so that every bite would have some icing in it.

I’m not usually one to complain, but we were pretty excited to stop in here on Wednesday morning to try the specialty rolls. It says they open at 9:30 online and on their door so we arrived at 9:40. An employee was waiting at the door to be let in and we asked if they were open to which she said on no we open at 10. This was fine as we went to some of the nearby shops to kill time. Coming back at 10:05 the lights were still off and the place seemed dead. We waited by the door for a few minutes to try and talk to any employee to see if they planned on opening but n the only people we saw were in the back where I assume the kitchen is. Eventually we left at 10:15 pretty disappointed in both our experience and the expectations that the employee gave us. I would like to say I’d go again but...

We were regular customers here. During our last visit we paid with card (NFC). I saw that the transaction was completed but the lady on the counter asked to re-do the transaction. I explained to her that it seemed completed according to my bank's app but she insisted so we have done it again. She then handed us our order which she was holding it back (!) until the 2nd transaction took place. A few days later we indeed identified that a double charge, of the same amount, has been charged. We contacted the customer service explaining the situation which refused to provide a solution in spite of our numerous emails.
