Taj Mahal — Restaurant in Dortmund

I was initially apprehensive because of the low rating but decided to go there as this seemed to be one of the few North Indian restaurants close to us. The ratings don't justify the quality of the food which was excellent. The dal makhni and mushroom curry were right on the mark. The tandoori roti and the naan were straight out from the tandoor, not like the ones which are just heated and served. I found the prices to be reasonable and the interiors good. The owners seem to run the restaurant themselves without many additional staff. Therefore there could have been some issues with the service for some customers. Since we visited the restaurant on a weekday when the restaurant was not that busy, we didn't find any issues with the service. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to eat authentic North Indian food...

Food was excellent but everything else was quite lacking. The servers were not friendly and seemed quite bored. One of them was even seen taking personal calls while on the job. When we asked to take the food to go, they dumped both of our leftovers into one container, effectively mixing it. f you only value the quality of the food you are getting, I recommend this place but other than that it left a bit...

Heute da gewesen und neben Naan, ein Lammgericht bestellt. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Man merkt, dass es sich um eine ausgebildete Fachkraft handelt, die genau weiß wann sie nochmal nachfragen muss und wann nicht. Das Essen wurde zusammen mit einer Schale Basmati-Reis serviert. Ich bin kein Spezialist was indisches Essen angeht und da ich generell eher mäßig scharf esse, habe ich hier etwas gewählt, dass als mild scharf ausgewiesen war. Das hat dann auch tatsächlich genau gepasst. Ein ganz klein bisschen scharf halt. Die Soße selbst war reichlich und mit Mandeln und Rosinen gut abgeschmeckt. Das Lamm war wirklich zart und hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Ich bin sehr gut satt geworden.

Einen kleinen Punkt Abzug gebe ich nur, weil die Atmosphäre zwar gepasst hat, man den Möbeln aber ihr Alter dann doch schon angemerkt hat.

Ich würde wieder hingehen. Vor allem wenn, wie auf den Bildern, im Sommer auch draußen gegessen...
