SFIZIO — Restaurant in Dresden

Today I had a terrible experience at this cafe. I came alone and asked the waitress if I could order food to go, right after I sat down at the table outside. Then her colleague came to me and I made an order and asked to make it to go. With a very disappointed face he asked me “ah so you’re planning to take the food to go?”, and right away he approached his colleague. I clearly saw that they were discussing me, since they both looked at my direction and he showed me to her. And in a minute she came to me and said that I can wait inside for my pizza to go. Inside, where there is no fresh air and very hot. I don’t understand it. Whether I’m eating here or taking to go, I’m still your client. I’m still paying the same money, it’s still the hottest period of the summer and I have waited in the same queue as all the other customers. Not only you showed me disrespect for me coming alone, because it’s not so cost efficient for you, but also I couldn’t sit outside for 10 minutes? 1 star and I will never come here ever again.

I tried the pasta with truffle sauce and burrata, it was pretty good, the portions were big enough. We waited for the food pretty long time, but maybe it was a rush hour and there was a lot of people. But I didnt like that people who ordered after us, got their food before we got our pasta. A few tables that got there after us got their food before we did, which for me is unacceptable. Anytime I visited a restaurant, the tables usually got their food in an ordering order but this time it was different. I understand that there were a lot od people there and maybe we got there at a rush hour but when everyone else got their food and we still didnt, we felt like someone forgot about us. As someone who works in a restaurant myself, it was not a nice experience and i wouldnt ever want my guests to feel like I did here. Our waitress was kind and nice, and maybe it was not her, but the kitchens fault. I dont know, maybe it was a one time accident? But if there was a delay or something i would rather be informed about it. But after all it was tasty and...

Sfizio is one of the few Italian dining options in Dresden, also offering ice cream for takeaway. While it provides a passable experience, it doesn't particularly stand out.

After several visits, I’ve tried their salads, antipasto platters, pizzas, and ice cream—all consistently average. The lack of strong alternatives makes it hard to be too critical, but with a '60 Seconds to Napoli' franchise set to open near the Frauenkirche, competition may soon heat up.

One major drawback is their pizza. The cheese is often overbaked, likely due to lower oven temperatures (320°C or below). To compensate, they extend the baking time, which causes the cheese to brown excessively and lose its texture as the fats and proteins break down. The toppings are also rather uninspired in flavor.

Another disappointment is their use of canned, machine-cut, and unseasoned olives in salads and antipasti platters—something that always feels like a missed opportunity for authentic flavor. The cold cuts are fine but nothing memorable just like the...
