It was a very bad experience. The lady owner of this restaurant calls people who don't speak French as d-o-n-k-e-y-s. She simply addressed this conversation to some of my friends who have never learned French in their life. She said that the people who live in East Beirut only speak French, and if they hear someone speaking Arabic, they say: what a d-o-n-k-e-y?! (Means What a s-t-u-p-i-d) Oh my God, she is still categorizing people depending on where they come from 😅. She didn't stop there and she was racist towards our Hijabi friend and also towards some of my friends when she knew that they come from regions that are according to her, belong to the „Third world“. We were going to eat and then ended up being labeled as d-o-n-k-e-y-s and third world.
I will not go back there again. And if you visit the restaurant, you can simply see how this lady will rate and judge you.

She offended us all, downgraded us and spoke in an arrogant manner. I immensely respect differences in perspectives and views but this time I was not able to tolerate or to even keep up the conversation.
The two stars are for the appetisers and the nice decoration. The main dish was very bad and the treatment was unacceptable. Nothing else was special.
The branch in Markenstraße was much better, food-wise and...

The first time you enter you are greeted with what may seem at first glance as your typical shawarma joint, but they also have a seating area that is decorated lovely with some beautiful paintings. The only thing that ruins the atmosphere are the anti-covid plexiglass separators, that may or may not be removed depending on regulations.
We had some issues being understood and understanding the staff, but managed to bridge the gap after all. The staff was patient and friendly, also brought our food extremly quickly.
The food was great, plentiful and fairly priced.
One major downside would be that payment through card is impossible, so don't forget to bring cash if you wish to visit...
