Trattoria Luisa — Restaurant in Dusseldorf

I have enjoyed fine Italian cuisine in restaurants all over the U.S. and Italy, a couple of which had Michelin stars associated with their chefs. Trattoria Luisa, in Düsseldorf Germany provided an excellent Italian meal that rivaled the best.

We started with Antipasto Misto that was beautifully plated and perfectly prepared. The squid was tender and flavorful. The pasta dishes balanced tradition with originality. The Tortellini Panna e Prosciutto had a hint of sweetness from pear which played well with the saltiness of the prosciutto. The Scaloppina Al Vino Bianco was perfectly, traditionally prepared.

All the dishes were fresh, inviting and flavorful. The wine that the chef recommended was from the same region of Southern Italy as the cuisine and the chef, and was wonderful. My husband and son finished the meal with a regional Grappa that they enjoyed.

This is a family restaurant that takes pride in their food and their service. If I return to Dusseldorf, I will certainly return to Trattoria Luisa for another...

The restaurants appearance isn't for everyone. It has that old timey feeling to it, which can be noticed by its furniture and the smell of the place. I, for one, felt a certain nostalgia inside due to its Mom and Pops vibe. The staff were many if not all of Italian descent, with a firm grasp of the English, Italian and German language, so getting what you want is a breeze. Leider muss ich die Bewertung aktualisieren. Nach mehreren weiteren Besuchen mussten wir leider feststellen, dass es unfassbar laut drinnen ist und man sich schwer unterhalten kann und den Rauchern nicht gesagt wird von der Türe etwas wegzutreten, sodass durch die offene Türe nochmal Tabakgeruch einströmt. Der Service war leider auch recht verpeilt, uns wurde etwas zwei Mal gebracht, das wir einmal bestellt hatten. Dabei hat das Essen auch ziemlich lange gebraucht. Am Tisch nebenan wurde etwas nicht bestelltes gebracht und einer der Köche hat dann eine Pause eingelegt um es zu verspeisen. ——————————-

Wir konnten mal einen Tisch in der Ferienzeit ergattern, ansonsten lieber reservieren. Ehrlich gesagt hatte das Ambiente uns zunächst etwas verunsichert, da z.B. an der Wand Essensspritzer sind und auch die Tischdecken schon bessere Tage gesehen haben. Der Service und das Essen sind aber so gut gewesen, dass sie das in den Schatten gestellt haben. Kellner beraten, geben einem das Gefühl zukünftig gerne als Stammgast begrüßt zu werden. Die Antipasti waren sehr gut, alles warm und schmeckte frisch zubereitet und nicht wie bei vielen anderen den ganzen Tag in der Vitrine gelegen.
