FOOD & DRINKS They don't joke around with their creamy soup with collagen. So much that the soup actually has a bit of funk to it. Their ramen is the only ramen around the area where you can really taste and feel the collagen. The broth is thick and when its getting a bit cold you can already see the soup creating a thin layer. The taste and smell can be a bit off putting for some but after a couple sips you might get used to it. I would say its definitely not for everyone but you are in luck because there are other broth options to choose from. The dark chicken meat was tender and the noodles were firm and had a satisfying chew to them. Overall a good bowl of ramen.
SERVICE The place wasn't busy when I came in. The food was served pretty fast and all I can say is that the service was outstanding. Everyone including the non Japanese staff were very friendly and smiling. The girls were super cute and the guys very cool. There is only one thing that bothered me a tiny bit. My bowl came out very oily and I mean the bowl itself. Plus the bowl was made out of plastic. I know high quality ramen bowls are expensive and heavy but they look so much better. And one more suggestion. If you serve a bowl of ramen with a red colored soup, its better to serve it in a white or black bowl instead of a red one. Just for the looks.
ATMOSPHERE The advantage of this restaurant is the space. It is large and can fit a lot of people but I have to say that the design is boring. The walls are full of advertisement for the restaurant or just feel empty. For me this restaurant lacks charm. It needs a touch more Japan and less advertisement. And if you want to do advertisement, make it cute and creative. My favorite seating area is actually the communal table in the middle.
RATING So this is the "newcomer". With the likes of Takumi which already has expanded to several locations around the area it is not easy to compete. But due to the long lines for Takumi and Naniwa this restaurant can certainly pick up a few customers who don't want to wait too long. And why not? They do a good bowl of ramen and the service is lovely. The only reason I gave four stars is that I personally would only come back for the service. The ramen was good but I didn't enjoy it to a point that makes me want to come back. As you can see it all came down to my taste and if you would give it 5 stars I wouldn't even want...
Read moreI recently had a disappointing experience with the ramen at this restaurant. It was, unfortunately, the worst I’ve encountered in any Western country—no comparison to the authentic flavors of Japan or Hong Kong. The noodles were overly soggy, almost melting in the bowl. I ordered extra noodles, but instead of serving them separately, they simply added them to the same bowl. This resulted in a noodle-heavy dish with far too little broth, which is crucial for a good ramen experience.
When I politely asked the staff member for more soup, he seemed taken aback and informed me that because I ordered extra noodles, there was less broth available.
The egg was fully cooked, resembling a hard-boiled egg, and the char siu turned out to be chicken, which was tasteless. The only positive note was that the soup was served hot.
I felt torn between finishing the meal to avoid wasting money and going elsewhere. Ultimately, I chose to finish it since it was late and I was hungry.
I genuinely feel for the guests and the original founder of this establishment, who I believe had good intentions in creating quality food. Unfortunately, this experience fell far below even food court standards.
