August 2025: The location is key. Love the small offer of Japanese breakfast at the buffet. The pool at the top was nice and the view spectacular. The elevator system is slow and something you have to learn to operate. We are a family of four (2 children), but we had to ask to make the sleeping sofa ready. We had to ask for an extra pillow and blanket because it was made up for one person. There were only slippers for one person in the room, we had to ask for more. So we had to ask a lot, all resolved though. We slept in the executive suite but there were no amenities, only shampoo in a bottle on the wall. There are two tv's and using the remote it works on both at the same time, not handy. The safe was not working, the bathtub had some issues like mold, the coffee machine was not really working satisfactory. So there are pros and cons. ------- The room is clean, modern, has a nice view, is pitch black at night, includes complementary coffee and tea. They clean the room but do not change the sheets? (This was quickly resolved). The front desk can do more than just two staff members though. The lift is so modern, when you are inside there are no buttons for you to direct. So push the right floor before you enter. I have send an email with questions about parking here, never got an answer. The location is really great, near the center and in the heart of Little Tokyo. This is our reason for stay, to experience Japan outside of Japan. 15-17 dec '17: we love to stay here, at least we did like it. Benkay has changed, you can not get breakfast or lunch here anymore, just dinner. We were not satisfied with the bathroom, has a walk-in-shower. You feel the draft and the water gets everywhere. The frontdesk let us see two other rooms but they had the same sort of shower over there. Luckily we could stay at our second night in room 603, a model-room. This one has a closed shower. So if you have a problem, they do think in solutions over here! (that goes only for the male staff, see the note) Note: How can the elevators be so modern and high tech, but the restroom in the lobby be so inconvenient?! To open and close the door you have to stand in the pot, what's up with that.. The male staff do an excellent job. They really do everything to let you feel welcome and try to solve things for you. The female staff on the other hand, are not really your finest workers. At the front desk and at the bar. They give a bad vibe, they rather not help you, they do not let you feel welcome, they are not professional at all!! I also saw and heard a lot of complaints from other guests during our stay. Train your staff, hire people who want to work in this sector, who make guests Kings and Queens. But do I really have to tell you this...? We will probably not come here anymore. It is expensive, maybe outdated or run down, the hospitality has really dropped to a unacceptable level, and I guess I have seen enough of it.

I wish I could say my stay was better. I wanted so badly to be in a nice hotel, in the Japanese district, with a relaxing spa. This was after a week of trade shows, so relaxation was necessary. My first room was a junior suite. The couch had a stain that I could only describe as NSFW fluids. I was appalled at the thought that housekeeping can't clean such an obvious stain, especially when it appears to be bodily fluids. I did not want to sit in the bodily fluids of previous guests in my €240/night hotel room. In addition to this, the sink was not mounted properly. The air conditioning was stuck on heat only (cooling disabled by management), and the house keeping did turn it up to 28C, so it took ages to not sweat in our room. The sink was also broken and the body wash was empty. The TV's 100+ channels are mostly broken, so be prepared and pack a chromecast and portable router. We used the QR code in the room to request robes and slippers. The request went unanswered for hours. We then had to use the same qr code to lookup the number for the front desk, as the room phones don't even have a button for reception. Upon request robes were brought to our room, but not slippers. Slippers are available but 2 requests later we still didn't receive them. We eventually found them in the spa area, guarded by the attendants. The breakfast buffet is seriously crowded on the weekends, so we spent too long to find a table. We had to wait 30 minutes for the Japanese breakfast to be restocked. Then another 20 minutes in line for the coffee machine. Overlapping this with everyone else checking out, it is impossible to leave the breakfast area. The "smart" elevator system can't handle so many guests and would erase our reservations and cars would skip us. We had to beg the service staff to use their elevator! The sauna area had a broken wet sauna and broken weight machine. This is such a large percentage of what is offered that it feels criminal to let these go broken. When I submitted these complaints I was upgraded to a "larger" room. The executive suite I was put in was smaller than my junior suite. The junior suite had a separate bathroom from the toilet, while this "executive" suite only had 1 cramped combined bathroom. With the wet sauna being broken I had purchased some nice bath products, but now I cannot fit in the tub. The lack of privacy in the bathroom was not something I appreciated in such an expensive room. The living room area was also much smaller. Our new executive suite also had a broken air conditioning and was facing the road, so it was hot and loud. We could not sleep at all. When I spoke to management on the way out there was nothing further they could do. We already moved rooms one within our trip and we were too tired to put up with the shenanigans. Stay away from this scam hotel unless someone else is paying.

The hotel exceeded our expectations. The location is ideal. It is away from the crowds but still within a 5-6 minute walking distance to where the crowds are. The hotel is quite large, clean, and modern. An impressive lobby greets you. The complimentary water and detox water in the lobby is a nice touch. Our room was upgraded due to availability. Breakfast was also complimentary. Spa facilities were available, but we didn't have time to use them. Breakfast (considering that the hotel is run in line with Japanese culture) reflects cultural values. Options such as fish and rice, which are part of this culture, are available at breakfast. However, there are also options that appeal to a universal breakfast experience (oats, fruit, scrambled eggs, bread varieties, etc.). The only thing missing for us at breakfast was olives. I know that olives are not a common food at breakfast, but it would have been nice to have them. The breakfast was very successful in my opinion, with honey served in small jars, high-quality brands used for butter and cream cheese options, various types of milk available, and quality coffee options. The bed in the room was very comfortable, the pillows were soft, and the blankets were spotless. The suite is quite spacious in terms of square footage. The window isn't very large, but the view is satisfying. The only thing missing in the suite was hotel slippers. It was surprising that there were no slippers in the room, especially in such a luxurious setting. The elevators are incredibly fast and comfortable. The reception is available at all hours and the staff are genuinely friendly. During the day, we encountered housekeeping staff in the corridor, and even though there was some distance between us, they greeted us. This was a very pleasant gesture. You can feel that you are receiving professional hotel service from every department of the hotel at all times.

Avoid avoid avoid. One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. Upon check in (large group with several rooms booked), Winnie on reception was rude and unhelpful. Questioning our booking until another staff member took over. Two of the triple rooms were not available to check into yet, which wasn’t an issue. On return to the hotel to check in, the two triple rooms were allocated. We were told we would all be on the same floor, this wasn’t the case. One of the rooms was old and dirty. Both triple rooms were booked for three adults. The third bed provided was a fold out camp bed with a wafer thin mattress which you could feel every spring in. Completely unacceptable for an adult to sleep in, especially with the cost of the room. One of the rooms didn’t even have the fold out bed in it. Three adults arrived in to one double bed. The camp bed was then wheeled in after a battle with Winnie at reception. She was so rude, dismissive, wouldn’t listen to anything being said. Refused to help in anyway. The manager on that evening wouldn’t even speak to us. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. It was an absolute disgrace. ||Heat didn’t work in my room or one of the make shift “triple” rooms. We had to put our coats over the beds for heat. A plug in old heater was then provided. ||We booked and paid for late check out (3pm). When we returned to the room at 2.40 the doors into the hallway were shut with a no access sign due to construction. We entered and made our way to the room which was locked, our key cards wouldn’t work. Upon finding a cleaner he called reception and eventually he let us in. Telling us we only had 11 minutes and stood at the door. ||As I paid in cash for the room, they asked for a €150 deposit on a card for security, which was no problem. As I had used a debit card the €150 was taken from my account. When I asked at check out when the money would be returned I was told repeatedly that they didn’t take a deposit and made out I was lying. When I showed them the transaction on my banking app I was told it wasn’t a deposit and the money must have been spent in the hotel. ||Honestly, that’s only the tip of the iceberg with this place. Drinks are so much more expensive than any other bar we visited. Food menu selection was awful.||Do not stay here. Winnie is an absolute disgrace and should not be working in a people facing position. ||Only saving grace for this hotel was the nice gentleman on reception the following morning who gave us a free breakfast and the breakfast...
