Sphere Bay Manga Café — Restaurant in Dusseldorf

I can’t say anything about the bubbletea since i didn‘t try it there yet. But I actually had an uncomfortable experience today. It was due to my own mistake. So I want to say that the store probably is really good anyways. ITS MY FAULT. I came here with my socialy anxiety, looking for a new bubbletea alternative with a friend. I made the mistake and didn‘t read the menu before ordering and we just trusted the old photo on google maps without thinking about it. Firstly it was hard to order due to the covid restriction glass wall. He was very good at german and english probably too and very nice to us. He was patient until he got the order. Then he told us a different price and we realized we couldn’t afford it, so we tried to explain that but it was hard since he still couldn’t understand it, it was very embarassing and awkward for me and i started talking louder. He still couldn’t understand it and there were some misunderstandings. In the end we just left and I think he was confused because he still didn’t understand. I felt sorry towards him because of that and also because i talked so loud I felt very rude. Things like these must make his working experience a little worse. Im sorry for him. Things like ordering something are very nerve wrecking for me. It made me cry afterwards even though I realized it wasn’t a too bad experience. Its just the first time in such a long time for me to try going into the world and being able to talk to others at all. I will give the store another chance and try it again anyways, because for me they optically are one of the best stores in düsseldorf so far. They also have a huge variety so you should just give them a try. If you have problems like these too or anything similar, just be sure to be prepared...

Properly functional self-service machines, anime/manga and video game decoration all over the place, really fast service, a pretty okay atmosphere and reusable cups? This is Sphere Bay, in the heart of Düsseldorf.

Starting off with the pros: Quick and friendly service, unique flavors, anime figurines to buy, reusable cups and you can even bring your own, therefore saving 0.50€.

The place has a toilet, as mentioned a lot of video game and manga decoration making it more interesting, the self-service machine is quite easy to understand and is also fully functional. The bubble tea itself was pretty alright. The self-service machine support many languages and the service itself can also speak English making it more flexible on that factor. Without sugar or with percentages, with non-lactose milk or not, a big variety on the drinks and bubbles.

The atmosphere is alright, it could easily be better maybe with a bit more music, a warmer environment or just by separating the first floor from the second.

The cons: Tables are available but on the second floor and there aren't many seats. The floor was sticky when I was there but that can be because it was a rainy day. It surely wasn't warm but not necessarily extreme cold, without a jacket or if you were light dressed, you could have had a problem. Nevertheless, the biggest problem about this place would probably be the prices, they aren't extremely expensive but it exceeds the "cheap" or even "average" price for sure.

Overall the place is alright, I would probably come again but it surely wouldn't be a place to stick to...

Zum mitnehmen gut, zum dort trinken nicht mehr so schön... Bin seit Jahren eigentlich Stammkunde aber meide den Laden inzwischen, da die Qualität stark nachgelassen hat. Das neue Pfandbechersystem finde ich aus Umweltgründen natürlich super und die Becher sehen gut aus, aber es wirkt noch nicht ganz durchdacht und die Becher fühlen sich in der Hand nicht so gut an und dadurch ist das Trinkgefühl schlechter + es sind 50ml weniger für den gleichen Preis. Ich hatte das Gefühl, das auch einige Besucher mehr als sonst statt die Pfandbecher zu benutzen lieber "zum mitnehmen" Plastikbecher bestellt haben, sich aber trotzdem hingesetzt haben. Allerdings (zu meiner Schande) sind mir die Plastik Becher im Moment glaube ich auch lieber. Seit ein paar Wochen gibt es kein WLAN mehr. An Tagen wie Samstag - an dem es immer sehr voll ist - überlege ich 2 mal ob ich die Toilette benutze, da der Boden ab Nachmittag oft nicht mehr so angenehm aussieht, Fruchfliegen rumfliegen und machmal auch viele Papiertücher überall verteilt sind. Es ist mittlerweile oft sehr voll und dadurch laut, wofür der Betreiber natürlich nichts kann, aber die Lautstärke ist manchmal etwas anstrengend. Die Getränke sind gut, aber die Qualität varriert etwas je nachdem wer grade arbeitet. Die Mitarbeiter sind aber alle sehr nett und ich mag die neuen Schürzen die die Mitarbeiter alle mit unterschiedlichen Pins geschmückt haben! Ich bin etwas traurig, dass es sich so anfühlt, da es früher DAS Zeichnercafe war. Man sieht immer noch Zeichner, aber ich fühl mich hier nicht mehr so wohl und Willkommen wie früher. Es ist definitiv kein komplett schlechtes Cafe, ich würde aber jedem eher empfehlen das Getränk mitzunehmen als sich hinzusetzen.

Update: ich weiß nicht ob Sie mich für die richtige Person halten... Zumindest habe ich mich nie persönlich mit Ihnen unterhalten und verstehe auch nicht wie Sie auf die Anschuldigungen kommen?, dass das hier ein Angriff sei etc... Ich glaube hier liegt ein Irrtum vor. Ich habe auch nie den Rabatt genutzt, deswegen denke ich Sie verwechseln mich. Ich wollte meine ehrliche Meinung hier lassen, in der Hoffnung das sich was ändert und das Sphere wieder gemütlicher wird. Zum Preis: ich habe mich nie expliziet zum Preis beschwert. Ich finde den Preis vom Bubbletea allgemein sehr gut. Nur 50ml weniger anzubieten für den gleichen Preis und dies nicht offen zu kommunizieren hat etwas von einer Mogelpackung. Ich verstehe das es grade mit der Inflation nicht leicht ist, deswegen hätte ich eine Preiserhöhung auch voll verstanden. Ich hoffe der Punkt ist jetzt verständlicher. Ich hatte erst 3 Sterne gegeben, das stimmt. Aber je länger ich drüber nachgedacht habe, desto mehr wurde mir bewusst, dass ich im Moment das Sphere leider eher nicht weiterempfehlen würde. Ihre Reaktion auf die Kritik bestärkt diese Meinung leider nur. Aka jetzt grade seh ich nur noch einen Stern... Mit so einer unprofessionellen Reaktion habe ich nicht gerechnet... Grade mit der Sauberkeit der Toilette (was definitv kein Einzelfall war) , Lautstärke und wechselnde Qualität der Getränke und ihr Ton schrecken mich grade sehr ab...
