Faustus Restaurant — Restaurant in Erfurt

I am from London I came to erfurt for a couple of days its my second time in this town its very beautiful I walked the town and I found this restaurant I came during the day for a beer it was very good beer there was only one member of staff who didn't really smile and seemed like she didn't want to be there the place is very clean and tidy and very nice I decided to come back in the evening for food and when I did the place was very busy and this time there was many staff members i was greeted this time right away by a young lady who was very nice I explained I don't speak German only English I spoke to a staff member who spoke English very well he dealt with me all evening always checking to see if I was okay and happy with the service I ordered the fillet steak and wow it was one of the best steaks I have tasted ! This is no joke and the sweet potato fries was amazing ! Everything tasted so fresh and the beer was amazing also at the perfect temperature ! Nice and chilled! The barman was very kind and funny had a good chat I think the service during the day needs some work but I did notice when I came during the day it seems one of the managers was not happy and started to get the staff motivated which was good to see! I see some negative reviews about this place no restaurant can make 100% everyone satisfied there will always be some complaints because expectations was not met. In my personal opinion this restaurant I think is one of the best in erfurt and deserves some good recognition. Want to thank all the staff members and the young girl who greet me and the gentleman who served me all evening and the barman who was very funny and nice.

I want to also say I have read comments on here from management I think you do need to take some responsibility for some of the negative comments and take comments seriously but I also think some of the comments made by people against the restaurant are unfair and insulting. Das totale Chaos ...

Als wir an einem etwas späteren Freitag Abend durch die Erfurter Innenstadt geschlendert sind, suchten wir noch ein nettes Lokal in belebter Lage um den Tag gemütlich und entspannt ausklingen zu lassen.

Zuvor sind wir etwas durch die Stadt spaziert und waren doch sehr erstaunt, wie unglaublich belebt (um nicht zu sagen voll) es im Bereich Anger/Krämerbrücke war, wohingegen teilweise nur eine oder zwei Straßen weiter so ziemlich niemand mehr auf der Straße zu sehen war. Möglicherweise trägt die aktuelle Buga in Erfurt nicht unwesentlich zu den vielen Menschen/Besuchern bei.

Wir entschieden uns also für das "Faustus" am belebten Wenigemarkt. Durch das schöne Wetter saßen die meisten Menschen in den Außenbereichen der Restaurants und Cafe´ s- kurzum, das Umfeld der wunderschönen Erfurter Altstadt und das Flair am Wenigemarkt selber waren toll. So ließen auch wir uns nieder- im "Faustus".

Auf den ersten Blick sah das Lokal sehr angenehm aus- gut besucht, und schon vom ersten Eindruck her eher etwas gehobener. Auch ein Blick in die Karte ließ anhand der Preise und der angebotenen Speisen und Getränke darauf schließen, dass es sich um gehobenere Gastronomie handelt.

Was uns jedoch ziemlich schnell und überaus negativ auffiel und auch so gar nicht zu dem "gehobenen Stil" des Lokals passte, war das durchweg sehr junge Personal. Meiner Meinung nach handelte es sich nicht einmal um Studenten, weil dafür schienen die (überwiegend) Kellnerinnen einfach zu jung. Sie wirkten restlos überfordert, teils genervt und unkoordiniert. Wir bestellten lediglich zwei Getränke und eins davon wurde prompt vergessen. Nach einem Gang zur Toilette war ersichtlich, dass es im Innenraum des Lokals noch deutlich chaotischer zuging. So liefen alle relativ wild umher, an Masken oder ähnliches war gar nicht zu denken. Auch unterhielten sich die Kellnerinnen mit den Gästen ohne jegliche Distanz - so, als hätte es Corona nie gegeben.

Auf die Frage, ob mein Getränk vergessen wurde, bekam ich lediglich ein Achselzucken und die Antwort "ich weiß auch nicht" ... -. Ich bekam das Getränk zügig nachgereicht, aber von einem professionellen Auftreten des Personals in einer solchen Situation (eine einfache Entschuldigung wäre schon ausreichend gewesen, es ist immerhin nur menschlich auch mal was zu vergessen) war keine Spur.

Alles in allem war das Personal durchweg unprofessionell, unkoordiniert und total entnervt in Anbetracht der immer neuen Gäste, die sich auch zu späterer Stunde noch niederließen. Das gehobenes Ambiente und die gehobene Küche des Lokals wurden sinnvoll mit Aushilfspersonal ergänzt, dass vermutlich den ganzen Abend allein den Laden "geschmissen" hat, ohne auch nur eine fachliche versierte Person an seiner Seite zu wissen. Sinnvoll deshalb, weil diese Konstellation natürlich kurzfristig den maximalen Gewinn bringt. Langfristig dürfte es die Gäste eher abschrecken. Nun ja, wir würden hier nicht noch einmal...

I come from NYC, where service is vital to the customer experience, and so it is just as important as the food for me. A couple of local friends took me to Faustus, and not only was the food incredibly delicious, wonderfully and fairly priced, and the ambience and decor beautifully inviting, but the service... WOW! We had the pleasure of having been served by a delightful young waitress (I believe her name was either Mary or Maria), and not only was she so helpful and knowledgeable about the menu, she was just super warm and inviting! I felt like I was back home in NYC getting extremely attentive and amazing service! My German is also not so good, but she made me feel comfortable, and shocked me with her fluent English! We were super happy with our experience at Faustus, and the experience was made even better by the wonderful young lady, who introduced me to my first apple spritzer, and it was sooo delicious! I will definitely come back...
