VAIVAI — Restaurant in Frankfurt

This is the 4th time my wife has dragged me to VaiVai and every time I’ve been disappointed. I ordered a 300 gram ribeye, it was paper thin and over cooked. The sides are small and lack flavor. I’m sure this is a decent place for Germans that do not have a lot of steak options. The Ribeye was 35 euro, probably worth 10. After dinner we stopped by the bar to get a drink. They sat us by the wine refrigerators, kind of cold and I had to move every 5 mins so a waitress could retrieve a bottle. My wife ordered a Bloody Mary and I wanted a Cognac. They did not have any Cognac so I went with water while I checked the menu. The Bloody Mary came out and resembled a tropical drink with a giant piece of Thyme in it. It tasted awful, at no point did it taste like a Bloody Mary. The awful drink and the water were 17 euro. I have no idea how this place has stayed in business except for the fact that people see it as a status restaurant. I have no trouble paying for good food, however, this is not it. Normally I do not write reviews. They way it looks, is nice. Personally i am very picky; so the menu is simple and just a little like Italian food but written in another languages so it looks fancier. A lot of cheese in the food as well. Food is okay but overpriced if you have great taste for italian or south-american beef. I personally waited like 50 minutes (without counting the ones to order which I would not complain, because it is "corona times" and places are under staff) to get my food and when I ask the waitress she was very mean to me. I asked if (but in a very polite/nice way ) i could pay and go since I was waiting like an hour and I am not exaggerating. I also aaw other people getting their food first, even when they arrived later then I did. Instead of handling the situation, she screamed at me, " No you can not it will come now". I felt a little ashamed since she was loud and other people was looking as well. I felt like almost guilty I was asking for my food after an hour haha. I would not go there but I hope if you pay this price, then you get nice service and feel like coming again no matter how long...

Bad experience. Started nice, waiter Robert seemed funny, first food we got was great. Then we waited very long for the main dish. It arrived 15 minutes before our “shift” ended. Waiter asked us to change with the people at the bar. We said we just finished our main meal and wanted to have desert. He made jokes and promised us a good bottle of red wine if we would go to the bar. We could have desert over there. So we went there, no seats available… after waiting 10 min we got two seats, two of us had to stand. Also no desert. Turned out we had to pay for the “promised” wine. When we said we would not pay tip Robert got frustrated and said we wouldn’t be able to make any future reservations in this case. Kept begging for a tip so one of us gave him 20 euros.

Ps also never order the vegan steak. It seems more like a burned...
