Been there a second time, and it was nothing like 3 months ago. The fact that the were out of many dishes was understandable, but serving food which is not edible and then claiming that the food was perfect because the waiter has "touched it" is not fine. The entire experience would be perfect it the staff weren't rude. We have ordered a gulash and the meet was incredibly dry, I normally do not complain but since the staff asked how was the food we have mentioned the meat being incredibly dry and that was the reason of almost the entire dish not being eaten. One of the waitress said that she is sorry and offered a free espresso which we refused as did not feel like coffee. Payment time came a different waitress came as well bringing the receipt and said that the meet was perfectly fine but we have got a 15% discount. That's when the bad experience has started. After I have told the waitress that unfortunately the dish was not as she said "perfect" she has lost it and started arguing how she was touching the meet and that we are not right that is dry and so on, after a long argument and telling us that we are wrong she has hit the table and stopped the conversation. At the end a different waitress came with a completely different attitude and she has taken the dish of the bill. I would not even think about asking for that but I am not gonna let anyone telling me that I am lying. Sorry skajo but that is completely not what expected. Also would be nice if you had English menus, and if the waiting time was a...
Read moreAmazing view over Freiburg. Cocktails were quite nice. I didn't try their food but it looked appetizing without being something overly special. However, the service is somewhat a bit special... The serving staff is not of the usual regional kindness and warmth. Guests keep flooding in and come up to your table to ask if you are done soon because they would like your table. This in not anything unusual for Germany but in this case becomes really uncomfortable as the rooftop space is rather limited. Obviously you then loose the view as your table slowly becomes surrounded by guests waiting - while the rooftop entrance and downstairs restaurant is completely empty, i.e. the restaurant does not wish to seat people guests are to find themselves a place to sit. In the mean time the service staff has to slalom around the waiting guests. It is understood that for the owners it has the intended effect of making you leave as you become uncomfortable, increasing the turnover per table. Sadly. Don't go there if you are looking for a nice meal in beautiful surroundings. Treat it as a place to have a pitstop and some refreshment...
Read moreThe ambience is ok. The menu was grimy (really made a bad first impression) and on faded paper tucked into plastic covers. This was unexpected given how the restaurant seems like it is trying to play to a higher class scene. In addition, the menu posted on the street did not match that in the restaurant. The food was a let-down; it compared to cheaper average German "Gaststätte" fare. There was more sauce than anything else on the plate and it was over-salted (tasted like a magi package).
The view is certainly nice and the staff took the time to make sure our reserved table had a great view. But otherwise, the staff was not overly attentive and the service/experience was all rather speedy. Zero time was left between courses to digest or even get a nip of wine in.
No need to go back, at least not...
