FOOD POISONING!!! While the service and atmosphere were acceptable the menu description did not match the food that came out and if I could rate the food as zero stars, I would. I ordered the "Leberkäse Meatloaf burger" which was described as being "finely ground beef and pork", but what I actually received was a giant block spam. Somehow Hofbräu have classified this as a "treat" on their menu but this could not be further from reality. I am now in my third day if illness since eating this "meat" monstrosity, suffering through fever, abdominal pain and worst diarrhea I've ever had in my life. My illness began to show with an uneasy feeling in my guts around 6-7 hours after eating at Hofbräu and I completely lost the last day of my holiday due to being bedbound with full body aches, hot flushes and cold sweats. It also made for the worst flight I have ever had to endure, as with every sensation of needing to pass gas came with a severe risk of soiling myself with the brown water I have been expelling for the last 3 days. This experience has not only put me off spam for life, but also the food of, and entire country of Germany. I wish I'd ordered the schnitzel like my friends. I will NOT be returning to either Hofbräu, Hamburg or Germany ever again. This was my second visit to Germany and on both occasions the food has been terrible but this experience has been the final nail in coffin for my opinion on...
Read moreYour favorite place if you like German Beer, (heavy) German food and German (party) music!
Normally not the biggest fan of these kind of places, mostly people just consuming maas (1l) „Krüge“ of Beer and gettin drunk. Seats (wooden benches) are getting uncomfortable after a while.
If you come in a bigger group, you should make a reservation. Especially if you prefer to sit close to the live band playing German party hits to animate to dance (remember: no drinks on the dance floor) and to drink.
You will be welcomed by several security people standing at the entrance.
Overall nice experience, also without alcohol if you come with nice company. Good is heavy but tasty. Also vegetarian options available! Same for non alcoholic drinks. English menues available but without English explanation of the beer history.
Keep in mind the overall atmosphere is very very loud, maybe not the best place for a date or important...
Read moreWe waited 10 minutes to have someone come and give us a table. It seemed that they didn't have enough floor staff and there was only one waiter. He walked past us a few times and looked at us but did not greet us for quite some time.
When we were given a table, I don't know why but the waiter had put all the Asians into one section of the restaurant, other people seemed to be sat at other parts of the restaurant which myself as an Asian person found a bit odd.
The table had a cloth on it and it was not clean. Had bits of food on it.
Another couple sat at a table next to us, the table was not wiped before they sat down as we had seen the previous customers had just left.
When we sat, they were quick to serve drinks and food.
Both my partner and I ordered the pork knuckle. Food was alright but nothing to write home about.
Overall my experience at this restaurant was...
