MUNDFEIN Pizzawerkstatt Hamburg-Hammerbrook — Restaurant in Hamburg

We had arrived in Hamburg around 3pm on a Sunday, of course hardly no restaurants are open close to the hotel. We found this pizza place on Google maps and thought we would give it a go.

We walked there, which was not far away. Once ordered and watching their non existent hygiene practices I started to get worried. Girl with long black hair (that is not tied back) takes a man’s order, handles money and goes and makes pizza’s with her unwashed hands. They were all as bad as one another with no hand hygiene. Even wearing gloves, you still have to change them!!

The girl with the long black hair took our pizzas off the the pizza oven, cut & boxed them, and handed them to us. We got our pizzas, walked back to hotel. Upon opening one of the pizza boxes, of course there was a big long black hair in our pizza!!! There is nothing more off-putting than human hair in food. Surprisingly great pizza!

First the Food - the pizza is simple but delicious! Super crispy base with great fresh toppings, and a lot of them. Even the vegetarian pizza was wonderful, with fresh broccoli, corn, mushrooms and a number of other toppings.

The Service - this a a take away pizza store, not a restaurant. Therefore know what to expect before you get there. The staff were clearly flat out and it took about 5 mins before were able to actually place our order. But the pizza was fast and super fresh.

The Atmosphere - this is a "hole in the wall" take away pizza shop in the middle of nowhere... Again, this is not a restaurant and there is not really anywhere to eat inside, except for a bench table with a couple of stools, which is really there for waiting.

Nach 6 stündiger Autofahrt endlich in Hamburg angekommen, wollte ich einfach nur noch was essen.

Ich habe auf der Homepage bestellt und gleich online bezahlt. Eine Bestätigungsmail habe ich aber nicht bekommen. Nachdem die genannte Lieferzeit überschritten wurde, wollte ich anrufen, ob alles geklappt hat. Und nun ging das kleine Drama los. Es gibt 10 Mundfein Standorte in Hamburg. Nun gut, ich mich eben durchtelefoniert. Nach den ersten drei, die mir erstmal nicht sagen konnten, von wo aus ich beliefert werde, habe ich von Nr. 4 die richtige Filiale genannt bekommen. Aber erst nach 20 Minuten, wobei ich zumindest zurück gerufen wurde.

Und dann oh Wunder, ruft mich der Fahrer an, er wäre jetzt in der Hotellobby. Da waren dann schon 1 1/4 Stunden rum. Nun gut, ich noch Trinkgeld gegeben (was ich leider bereue) und er mir die Papiertüte. Die aber vom bestellten und gekühlten Bier so aufgeweicht war, dass die Tüte sofort nach der Übergabe durchgerissen ist, die Bierflasche zerbrochen, ich ausgerutscht und rückwärts auf die Biersuppe inkl. Scherben gefallen bin. Der Fahrer hat leider nur doof geschaut, geholfen hat er nicht. Die Dame von der Rezeption hat dann etwas zum saubermachen geholt, in dieser Zeit ist der junge Mann schon wortlos verschwunden.

Und nun zum Essen, auf das ich auf Grund einer Steißprellung und mit Bier vollgesüfften Klamotten eigentlich schon keine Lust mehr hatte. Bestellt habe ich eine Bowl mit Falafel. Wenigstens ist die Verpackung beim Sturz halbwegs heil geblieben. Was soll ich sagen. Lauwarmer Salat mit Cesar Dressing und eben Falafel. Es war OK, nicht mehr und nicht weniger.
