There is really no place to pick up modern craft beer in Heidelberg … with one very shiny exception. Local brewery Heerlijk has a small hole in the wall kind of bottle shop. You can enjoy a cold one on the premises or you can load up your bags. I did both. The brewery adheres to the Reinheitsgebot but rumors” are that they might come out with a gose at some point 😱 For me personally, this is an oasis in a desert of trad lagers. I would even label it a well kept secret that I hope everyone will discover at some point. Places like these are what brings joy to the world.

Zlatan lookalike was very welcoming, especially considering there was a group of 9 Scots who descended on their tiny setup. Highly recommend!

Endlich hat es mal geklappt und wir waren da. Vom spontanen kauf zum wir probieren uns mal durch wurden dann tatsächlich das Pils, Lager, Helle, Pale Ale und das Bernstein Lager probiert und was man definitiv bescheinigen kann, ist die drinkability. Soll heißen das wirklich jedes einzelne Bier gezielt darauf ausgelegt ist, dass man auch mehr als eins trinken kann. Diese Biere sind wirklich ausgeglichen und in keiner Nuance zu spitz oder zu übertrieben. Es sind einfach gute Biere die qualitativ gut gemacht sind, und geschmacklich für den jeweiligen Typ auch einfach ausgewogen daher kommen. Klasse Arbeit und Bier das man jederzeit auch mit Freunden abends genießen kann, gern auch in größerer Anzahl. Macht weiter so!

Found this shop while looking for local craft beers in Heidelberg. Went in at 3pm and spent a good 4-5hours sitting there, drinking beers and talking with the owners about their brewing etc.

The beers they sell are very high quality craft beers, and they got a nice variety of different styles of beers including nice IPAs but also classic german style beers etc.

The owners/brewers are really nice guys, products are high quality and the location is very central. I would highly recommend any beer lover...
