Bratar — Restaurant in Karlsruhe

My girlfriend and I spent the valentine's evening here and we both left pretty disappointed. Firstly, after making a reservation prior to coming in the restaurant, the table that we were sat down at, was extremly close to another one and we had to move our table to be able to get up and go to the toilet (for example) and the food was passed on, because the waiter could not get to us. Then, the menu was overwhelming and not detailed enough at the same time. I wanted to oreder a single burger without menu and without assembling it on my own (which was most of the menu), but apparently this is not possible. The price of the cocktail that I ordered was not correct as it turned out and the cocktail was the worst cocktail I have tried (I ordered Whiskey Sour ...). The waiter got the impression that I did not understand german and somewhat ignored me until the end of the night, despite me actively speaking in german to him. The food was okay, albeit plain and overpriced. The vegetarian burger of my girlfriend was pretty tasteless and with a lot of salad, that just did not add flavour. Every now and then I visit this burger place. I keep forgetting why I don’t go often till I repeat the experience and it is always the same result. The meat is nice, but the quality of service, ingredients and offer keeps decreasing over time. The tables are sticky, as if they just dry wipe the drops of the sauce of the previous client. It it happened once I would assume it is a mistake, but this is the third time I visit and the tables are disgusting. They keep adding and putting a price to every single thing and the prices of extra ingredients have increased up to 2 euros at this point per ingredient when before it was up to 1 euro extra. The burger was a bit thicker and drier than I expected for a smashed burger. It had a great crust. To compensate for the dryness, a really big quantity of sauces did the job. Not overpowering the other ingredients but not making it a more enjoyable dish. The crunchy and soft mix of ingredients was great, texture wise and good flavor wise.

But I was kind of disappointed for the price, and don't recommend coming here, since there are better options.

The drinks were fine. Nothing out of the ordinary for handmade drinks.

We were given an extra plate and the service was good. The ambience was a big hit and I really liked the aesthetic of the place.
