L'Osteria Karlsruhe — Restaurant in Karlsruhe

One star for the amazing and delicious food and minus four stars for the rude waiter who "attended" our table (front right corner). The waiter made it clear to us that the restuarant is only for white people and that we, being people of colour, are unwanted. His unruly behaviour was only towards us as we observed that he was very cordial and courteous to all the other guests, who were only white people. As soon as we arrived and were ushered to a table, he appeared out of nowhere and made funny faces at us when we were sitting down at the table. He hurried and made us order the drinks (where he neither understood English nor German that we spoke but he did give his remarks clearly in German), by  now we had decided to leave the restuarant and tried calling him immediately to cancel the drinks. He saw us calling him and just gave us some disgusting angry looks. He approached the table next to us and when we tried talking to him, he gave us some more angry looks. We told another waitress to cancell our drinks but she politely told us to speak only to our own "waiter". He then came to take the food order and as we were not ready to order and were still going through the menu (less than 5 minutes since we entered the restuarant at this point), he asked us if we would order the food tomorrow! How impertinent. Throughout our time at the restaurant, we were upset by this atrocious behaviour and totally lost the energy to even enjoy the ambience or the music at the place. It was a disaster! When he later came to collect the bill, he was still rude, gave us more disgusting looks as we made the card payment. He was not even courteous to say Tschüß/ Auf Wiedersehen /Arrividerci etc, he just took his payment machine and walked off ( Yes, it is too much to expect from a man of his kind, but we had observed how kind and polite he was to all the other guests). Never again will I visit this place, not because of the food, only because of the offensive behaviour of this man. Worst experince in...

Yesterday, I was there at the restaurant with a friend of mine and I have had the most horrible experience. The waiter who attended us was rude for no reason. He made funny faces while we were settling down at our table and he was attending the next table. Then within 2 minutes of us settling down at the table he came to take our order for the drinks and when my friend asked him to give us some more time to decide he replied when do you want to order? tomorrow? Initially, we had the impression that he was trying to be funny and we kind of hurried to order the drink. After taking the order, he moved onto the next table and while he was on the next table I waved at him and asked him to come to our table because I wanted to change the order. He gave me a very disgusted look and never came back to our table and gave me a chance to change the order. This behavior made us realize that he was not trying to be funny in the first place. Then we asked another waitress who said that only her colleague can do that so we should ask him as he was attending our table. By that time it was pretty late and our drinks got served. We noticed his behavior with other guests and he was courteous with the other guests who were white people, which kind of made us believe that it was because of skin color. Though we would absolutely love to believe this wasn't the case. But unfortunately we don't have any other explanation of such an attitude. He again gave us the same disgusted look when we asked him that we want to pay by card. I really like the food at L'Osteria and have been there before. But after yesterday's experience, this restaurant is off my list forever. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone because of the disrespectful behavior I have received from this waiter. We are International students here and this is the first time I have received such a behavior in the past 5...

I came to L’Osteria after a couple of months, I considered myself a client for a long time, I would say since it was open in Karlsruhe. Yesterday was the worst experience by far. First we had to endure a long waiting line just to get tables. The person in charge where not to be found like normallly. Then finally he came and gave us our table. Then we had to wait a long time just to give our order. Finally after several attempts to call the attention of the waitress, she came, took our order and disappear, it took more than 40 minutes and a visit to the kitchen looking for her. I asked her where was our order (she snapped to me that it was coming “sofort” , well it wasn’t sofort …). She forgot to bring the plates, the glass for the water (I went again to the bar to get one by myself) and so on. Also they let pigeons flying inside the restaurant!!! Pigeons flying above your food !!! So we had long waiting time+pigeons + non efficient waitress + non efficient person who receives the people. Finally we asked for the check and she just put the machine to give her tips and also the sign on the table that said “reserved”. Normally all the waiters and waitress that worked there were really polite and charming but she was totally rude. I always always let tips to every waitress, waiter, person who works in the food industry but really I didn’t want to do It this time. Basically we felt forced to give her tip. I won’t come back anytime soon for sure. Bad bad...
