Fangfrisch — Restaurant in Lübeck

The food is quite good, but we were definitely not satisfied with the service. We were four adults and two kids (4 and 2 years old) going out for dinner. We ordered, amongst other fish & chips and salmon & chips for the kids. As it was busy, it took around 30 mins for the food to arrive (fair enough), but without the salmon & chips for the 4 year old. After five minutes, we asked the waiter and he had apparently forgotten that part of the order. He came by ten minutes after and said it was almost there. Then we waited an additionaln20 min (so 30 mins after the other plates arrived), and then they cane with a adult meal (and no apologies). We mentioned it, and they offered to send it back, but we agreed to keep it, as the kid now had waited one hour for the meal, and we wouldn’t risk having to wait another 30 mins. When we got the check, we saw that they had put full adult price for the kids meal, and no form of discount. We discussed it with the waiter and recieved in the end a 5 euro discount on a 140 euro tab. The experience is that we won’t recommend...

The Michelin Guide is a constant companion of mine and has rarely given me bad advice - in this case I have no idea how it came up with the idea of recommending this restaurant. Saturday lunchtime - nothing to write home about. Friendly service, but 45 minutes waiting between starter and main without being asked is too much, especially as my companion didn't have a starter. The fish soup was well made, as was the zander, but just mega boring. The mussels were a nightmare. I have no idea why I had to eat half the sandpit. After half an eternity, I was able to explain the shortcoming to the service. Naturally, I was offered a 'replacement meal', which I gratefully declined. I was, of course, allowed to pay in full for the sandbox shells. Would I recommend Fangfrisch? Not in its current form. Either they don't have enough staff or they are busy with their...

Well, I must have visited Fangfrisch on a bad evening. The fish was very plain, poorly seasoned and, the service slow and unfriendly. The potatoes, accompanying my entre were drenched in an oversalted oily goo. Additionally, do not eat here if you are disabled. The staff will complain about your mobility device, and the restroom is in the basement. Why would someone build a new restaurant and not include an accessible restroom? There is a ground floor ladies room, but not a men's room. The staff encouraged me to use the ladies room, advising that they would watch the door. Within a few minutes there were a dozen ladies in the restroom eagerly investigating what the handicapped man was doing in the ladies room. The staff was unprofessional and provided poor service.
