I ordered two things: a kind of cake and hot chocolate. Food was decent, but service was mediocre. I don't know how the management train their employees.

Dôme au chocolat cake: decent, but I would not recommend this to anyone looking for a special dessert creation in Munich. For the price, I expect something more exciting.

Luitpold Schokolade: generous portion of hot chocolate, decent taste. I would say it was okay over a conversation, but I woule not seek it out just for the hot chocolate either.

Now...service was substandard. One employee told us to change the table as the seats outside we sat was closed. The employee proceeded to tell the same to some other customers and I saw the employee shake head--that is not an attitude that should be demonstrated to customers. One employee rushed to put my cake plates and hot drinks so that some of the hot chocolate spilled and the cake broke. That was rough. The experience felt cheap and rude. During payment, when the said employee came back with the bill and saw tht I was about to pay with card, the employee displayed frustration and asked me to come along inside to pay, to which I agreed. The employee told the amount and insisted on it when I wanted to check the bills. I felt pressured by this employee to hurry and pay, so I told the employee not to push me to pay as I wanted to check, but the employee kept insisting on the amount and raised the tone slightly, saying 'here, here'.

Organisation is also another point to critique. A waitress picked up two consumed glasses of drinks and deposited them at a table outside like a sore for the rest to see.

WC was clean.

Edit: I apologised for having mentioned the names and forgot about the Data Security Policy. I have therefore removed the names completely.

This review is just one opinion. Potential visitors can decide to form their...

We visited this place with my husband on January 30, 2022. The food was awful, and the service was awful as well.

We booked the table with the Jochen-schweizer.de voucher and then had a call with Cafe Luitpold to confirm our reservation. When we arrived at the restaurant, they could not find our reservation. It took some time explaining how and why we booked our visit.

They found us a table, but not in the area we wanted, but this was not the main problem.

According to the voucher we expected to get the following: Seasonal 3-course candlelight dinner for 2 Tasting of 3 corresponding wines of the house's choice 1 house aperitif per person

The most interesting things started when we realized that our waiter does not speak English at all. He also didn't care that we didn't speak German. He didn't even try to explain anything to us, he told us nothing about food that would be served. He just was carrying unintroduced dishes putting them on our table. He didn't specify what it was, what it was made of.

The final straw was when he brought us the meat and pasta and did not even say what kind of meat it was pork or beef. When I asked him what kind of meat it was, he didn't say anything and went to the kitchen to clarify it. The food was tasteless, the pasta and meat were overcooked. The only wine was normal. After dinner was over, our waiter began to clean up the neighboring tables, pretending that we didn't exist, he didn't ask if we liked the food or not, he just ignored us with his whole appearance.

Summing up everything above: I will never come to this place again in my life, the service is terrible, the food is not delicious. I have had the most negative "Romantic dinner" experience in my life. I do not recommend...

I used to always make an effort to go here whenever I go to Munich. So after two years away because of COVID I couldn’t have been more excited but then disappointed by my experience. I was a bit weary that CL got removed from the Michelin guide but now I could understand why. I waited more than five minutes to be seated as countless waiters and bussers passed by me without acknowledging that I even existed after I tried to get help. I finally had to stop and ask a dishwasher to grab someone to confirm my reservation and seat me. The person who was eventually called to check my reservation and seat couldn’t have seemed more passively annoyed about it. My actual waiter was nice but clearly overwhelmed. I also witnessed another waiter absolutely berate another customer for asking for a new glass of champagne because the glass they were given was flat and that waiter (shorter, bald shiny head) who passed by said that they should just wait for their waitress to come around and ask for help then because he’s too busy with his tables and that they can wait. Unfortunately the dinner just lacked any sort of salt, seasoning, or flavor, shocking because it used to be quite the opposite. What I will give CL is that their coffee and cake is good, and the place itself has such a cool history. Unfortunately I decided to cancel my following breakfast reservation for this trip as well because it just doesn’t seem worth it. Unfortunately it looks like my experience isn’t a unique one these days, based on other reviews. I can’t wait for CL to turn it around and really...

We visited Cafe Luitpold in May. While we did enjoy our breakfast here, I do agree with the other reviewers, the slow service has let the place down. After we got shown to our seat, the waiter sort of disappeared from our sight. We had to wait for a long time before we could get the waiter's attention when he reappeared into our area to take our order. Then when we finished our meal, we asked the same waiter for the bill but we waited and watched him doing other things and the bill never came. Eventually after waiting for 15 minutes we had to ask another younger waiter to get us the bill. I don't know whether this sort of slow service is normal and expected in a high end restaurant/cafe, but we certainly did not appreciate being ignored and feeling like we had to "beg to be served". Not sure if the management in general is racist, but I did observe that the waiting staff were more attentive to the local customers, compared to tourists. So despite the slow service, the breakfast food was delicious. We ordered the omelette with breadbasket, Luitpold Egg Benedict on brioche, and yoghurt with fresh fruit. There were a few different types of bread served in the breadbasket and all of them were really nice. The eggs were all cooked to perfection. No complaints there. We ordered two cappuccinos and they were one of the better coffees we had in Munich. Didn't get to try the cakes but they do look very good in the display cabinet, although the staff didn't seem very approachable. The toilet facility is clean so make sure you use it before you go.

Café Luitpold in Munich offers an exceptional culinary experience characterized by exquisite patisserie creations and a stylish ambiance. My recent visit was a true delight, underscored by the excellent quality and presentation of the dishes. One dessert that particularly impressed me was a beautifully adorned sweet treat, which was a visual and gustatory highlight. The combination of fluffy meringue, perfectly caramelized, with fresh, juicy red currants created a harmonious blend of sweet and tart notes. The delicate decoration of powdered sugar and a small piece of chocolate completed the overall experience. The café itself is distinguished by its elegant yet cozy atmosphere. The stylish decor and attentive service contribute significantly to a pleasant stay. The attention to detail and the high quality of the ingredients used make every visit a special occasion. For lovers of fine patisserie, Café Luitpold is an absolute must in Munich. Here, tradition is seamlessly combined with innovative ideas, executed at the highest level. A visit is definitely worthwhile, whether for a relaxed breakfast, a stylish afternoon tea, or an indulgent dessert like the described masterpiece.

We came for lunch on a Tuesday and the only thing I would complain is that the servers kept telling us to wait a few minutes before seating us but totally forgot. We bugged probably 2-3 servers that we had a reservation but they were pretty busy that we stoof waiting for 15-20 mins. At some point we just walked in and found a seat ourselves. Once we did get served, our waitress was very nice and attentive. We started off with a glass of Riesling wine, which was lovely and then some Flammkuchen with Südtiroler Speck and onions which was absolutely delicious. If you love Flammkuchen, I definitely recommend it. I love the crispy flat dough that's slightly charred on the side from the oven and the Speck and onions were so aromatic and flavorful. For desert was a classic Apfel Strudel that came with a generous helping of cream which I got carried away and drowned the Apfel Strudel in but hey, I like my cream so no regrets.
