I am now very disappointed with this restaurant
We had a wonderful meal but when I asked weeks aftewardsr about the recipe/ingredients for the spiced oranges (which went so well with the scallop dish) the chef de cuisine said he couldn't share it.
I explained that I have been finding it very difficult to eat for some time and need food that tempts me but have had no response.
So what was a very pleasant meal which I would love to try to recreate to help with my eating has turned rather sour
Four of us went for lunch here before going round the fantastic Lenbachhaus gallery. it is a beautiful restaurant in the Norman Foster extension to the original Italianate villa known as the Lenbachhaus. It snowed the day we were there so all looked good. The only problem is it was packed so we had to sit at the bar after a ten or fifteen minute wait. On looking at the menu we saw there were no vegan options (apart from salads - it was snowing outside!) so my vegan son took off with his mobile phone to find a vegan place nearby which he did and said it was good.
Meanwhile we ordered our food for the three of us. It was fabulous! The best meal we had had all week in Munich. I had scallops with a dressing and oranges etc and my daughter had truffle pasta - can't remember what my husband had but know he loved it too. Then we shared an apple crumble type thing. The staff were kind and attentive.
I think because it is so good that it is probably always difficult to get a table. Not sure if you can book but I suppose out of peak season we might have got a table
The only reason I haven't given it five stars is the lack of a vegan option and the fact that it was heaving although that is...
Read moreAbsolutely has the worst waiter ! After my incident I checked the low graded reviews and I see that one star for this restaurant was received because of the waitresses earlier as well. Yesterday we were 2 people and sat outside and waited for the waiter to come. After 5-10 min he came outside and gave service to the table behind us. After he was done I said 'excuse me' and then from the other table he said ' its weekend I should enjoy it...' in German and in an arrogant way. I couldn't understand it all. Then he came to our table and I asked him for the menu and he repeated that we should 'relax and its weekend and we are tourists...etc'. First of all, we are not tourists but my German is not at its best yet that's why I spoke in English. 2nd of all, I asked for the menu only once who are you to tell me to RELAX and take it easy. If you are busy just say ' I am busy will be back in 5 min... I got mad to his rudeness and left the restaurant. When we were leaving he...
Read moreWe like the cafe and visit it many times. They have a dessert buffet, where you can choose your cake. Today I dared ask the maitre something and he scolded me like a little child and told me to "Go to my table" because he could not work if people stop over and ask him questions. When I told him that he should be polite to his customers, he said that he was super busy and he would send my waiter to my table ( kind waiter but it was his first day so he was kind of lost on a Sunday). So, unkind "Chef" it is not my problem that you are understaffed or you hire a beginner on a Sunday. A paying customer shouldn't have to put up with a behaviour like yours. I had guests with me and didn't want to spoil their day otherwise I would have left the cafe...
