My family and I had dinner at this Restaurant, and it was the worst dining experience we've ever had. We ordered steamed fish, mapo tofu, seasonal vegetables, and white rice. Firstly, they forgot to serve us the fish. Secondly, the waiter assured us that the mapo tofu was vegetarian, but we discovered tiny meat cubes in it.
After waiting for 45 minutes without receiving the fish, we inquired about it and asked for the bill instead. The waiter's reaction was surprising; he checked his iPad and claimed we had ordered the fish, then immediately conferred with his colleagues. From our table, we could see him having an angry exchange with the colleague who initially took our order.
The waiter then went to the kitchen and brought the fish to our table within 2-3 minutes. The fish was uncooked and served cold, with some oil and chilies hastily drizzled on top. We informed them that we didn't want the fish and would only pay for the other items, but the waiter insisted that we had to pay for the fish. His colleague then claimed that the fish takes 50 minutes to an hour to cook. However, at other Chinese restaurants, fish is usually well-cooked and served hot within approximately 15 minutes.
When we pointed this out, the waiter responded that Europeans prefer cold fish and claimed that everyone in Europe eats it that way. There is a clear difference between cold fish and uncooked fish. He also mentioned that the kitchen wasn't aware we were from India. Just because we are ethnically Indian does not mean we are from India; we are Singaporean. We explained that we are familiar with Chinese cuisine and how it is typically cooked and served. Nevertheless, the waiter insisted that we had to pay the full amount, including the fish, which was unfair as we didn't eat it.
Despite our attempts to explain that they had forgotten our order, the staff refused to acknowledge their mistake. Multiple colleagues approached our table, attempting to justify the cooking process and even offered to let us take the fish home. We declined, as we do not eat food that has been forgotten and improperly prepared.
As we were leaving, they apologized for the poor service. If they were truly sorry, they should not have charged us for the fish. This experience was absolutely unfair. We advise caution when dining at...
Read moreService is horrendous here. Being a Chinese, and this being a Chinese restaurant, we were shocked that the staff here are racist towards their own. My family and I arrived without reservations. We tried asking for a table(half the restaurant was empty) but one of the elderly staff there was very rude and blatantly ignored us for 15 minutes. Seeing that we might be in the way of other service staff, my parents went out into the cold to wait whilst I tried to catch the attention of the elderly staff member(who was in charge of welcoming and seating guests). Finally, two other German guests arrived and they too did not have reservations. What shocked me was that the aforementioned elderly staff immediately attended to them and seated them. When he noticed them coming through the door, he walked past me, went to them and welcomed them!!! Wow!! It was shocking that my family had been nothing but polite and considerate and we were treated like air whereas local Germans were treated like honorable guests!!
This made my blood boil and I questioned the senior staff about the unfair treatment. This was when one of the younger staff member came(I’m assuming the manager) and got us a table.
If you do not have a table, at least talk to me and let me know. Being in the service line, you do not treat your customers like non existent and ignore them! This ruined our entire dinner experience.
Food wise, the bamboo shoot dish was horrible. They used canned bamboo shoots and it’s obvious. We barely touched it. Eggplant was average. What truly shone was the fried fish dish. That was amazing and we...
Read moreThey’ve updated the menu since I was last there in April, and I was so thoroughly pleasantly surprised! The taste was so rich and fine. The spices for each dishes that we’ve tried were on point and you could tell that they are not the usual mish-mash of spices of some restaurants where even if you order 10 different things they end up tasting the same. This is definitely not the case with SEEN and they really have proper authentic food now! A bit of the pricier side, but the ambience inside is really nice, and definitely worth it.
Oh, but the 烤鱼was below par, because the fish isn’t fried crispy like it should be, but rather more like boiled fish.
————this was the old review with 3 stars————in April 2019 Service was super slow on the day we went.. the whole meal lasted 2.5 hours, not sure if I’d wanna sit around waiting for that long after a long day. If you want quick service it’s not the place... And as someone that grew up with Dim Sum, I think the idea of “creating” smaller dishes is innovative, but making up dishes that are not part of the taste profile and branding it Dim Sum is quite far fetched.... Dumplings were standard like the other Ledu locations. But some of the small plates were simply... not worthy. Cumin lamb was good. The steamed prawn and steamed octopus, not so much... the fried lotus root was also disappointing.
Will go back to try their lunch offerings. Dinner was 23.9€ for four dishes. It’s ok but I could definitely have gotten more satisfying...
