Garden Bayerischer Hof — Restaurant in Munich

Some days ago we decided to try the Garden Restaurant for dinner. The location is nice and airy, there were many service people moving around but only one person was taking orders - he kept himself rather busy, despite the fact that not many tables were occupied as it was still early. We ordered our starters and the mains. Bread and butter was put on the table. The table next to us ordered after us and what a surprise, while we still waited for our main course they had finished their two course dinner, had coffee, paid and left. And we kept waiting for our mains. During all this time, many service people hovered around but it seems the kitchen was understaffed. The food was OK, however when I saw the main dish - Lamb - I was somewhat surprised as nobody at our table was on a diet. Coffee was served but the bill again took its time to arrive. When going through it, we were taken aback to be charged for bread and butter with € 2.30 per head. I have never been asked to pay for this in Germany. This is the more surprising as the prices are rather steep; in Italy it is another case but there they call it "coperto" and usually the tables are white covered. Beautiful restaurant inside this historical location. The garden where we had lunch was pretty and nicely decorated.

We had an Aperitivo with Prosecco, Spritz and juice and we chose the business lunch, which had three courses.

Bread and butter was served. A really tiny amuse-bouche opened the lunch. The gazpacho was good but too little to call it a first course. The involtino was served with a nice sauce and side, but again it looked like more of a snack. The crème brulé tasted good but it was overcooked and it had a scrambled eggs texture.

They kept opening and serving us bottles of water without asking. Not really fair considering they charge 14€ for a 0,75 bottle.

They gifted us a small delicious chocolate cake, because they knew it was our wedding celebration. It was very appreciated.

With wine (75€) coffee and Jägermeister we ended up paying 590€ for 6 people.

I found it overpriced for the quantity and quality of the food served.

Ein Abend im Garden – stilvoll, herzlich und kulinarisch herausragend

Unser Abend im Garden Restaurant im Bayerischen Hof war in jeder Hinsicht ein Genuss – atmosphärisch, kulinarisch und im Service. Schon beim Betreten des Restaurants spürt man die gelungene Verbindung aus modernem Design und entspannter Eleganz. Das Ambiente im Atelier-Stil ist offen, ruhig und sehr geschmackvoll – der ideale Rahmen für einen besonderen Abend.

Wir wurden herzlich empfangen und starteten mit einem feinen Gruß aus der Küche, der bereits Lust auf mehr machte. Als Vorspeisen wählten wir den „Garden Salat“ mit frischen Feigen, Feta, verschiedenen Blattsalaten und feinem Dressing – wunderbar ausgewogen, leicht und aromatisch – sowie ein klassisches Rinder-Carpaccio, das perfekt temperiert, zart und hervorragend abgeschmeckt war.

Höhepunkt des Abends – und bewusst gewählt – war das viel gelobte Wiener Schnitzel, das in den sozialen Medien zurecht als das beste der Stadt gehandelt wird. Unsere Entscheidung dafür war keine zufällige, sondern Ausdruck echter Neugier auf das, was so häufig begeistert beschrieben wird. Und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht: Das Kalbfleisch war von exzellenter Qualität, butterzart, die Panade luftig, goldgelb, herrlich knusprig – ein Paradebeispiel für handwerkliche Präzision und höchste Produktqualität. Auch die klassischen Beilagen – Kartoffel-Gurkensalat und Preiselbeeren – waren fein abgestimmt und rundeten das Gericht perfekt ab.

Dass ein vermeintlich einfaches Gericht wie ein Schnitzel in dieser Vollendung auf den Teller kommt, spricht für die außergewöhnliche Küchenleistung unter Herrn Pfisterer und seinem Team. Es war für uns keine „schnelle Wahl“, sondern eine bewusste Entscheidung – und ein voller Erfolg. Beim nächsten Besuch freuen wir uns darauf, weitere Gerichte der Karte zu entdecken, denn die Gesamtleistung der Küche ist offenkundig auf konstant hohem Niveau.

Der Service an diesem Abend war aufmerksam, herzlich und angenehm unaufdringlich. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir Frau Sturzwage, die uns kompetent, freundlich und mit viel Feingefühl begleitet hat – vom Aperitif bis zum Digestif.

Fazit: Das Garden Restaurant bietet weit mehr als ein schönes Ambiente. Es steht für eine Küche mit Haltung, für exzellente Qualität – und für gelebte Gastfreundschaft auf hohem Niveau. Wir kommen sehr...
