Pork knuckle meat was tender, sauce was tasty, the crust was only halfway puffed up and crispy. Spätzle were fine. Nothing mind-blowing but ok. Food in general is not bad and quite decent. Now. The service on the other hand was terrible. Let's start with the dessert, they extra write on the menu that it takes 20 min yet we waited for 46 minutes. And the worst thing for me is the POORLY POURED beer. Gigantic light foam which after it desolved, left me with NOT the amount I was paying for. Look at the pictures. If they do that for a night, you can do the math how they rip of the people or tourists. Even when it's written on the menu that the service fee is included in the menu our waiter asked us 3 times to tip him. When I am happy with the food and especially with the service I will tip on my own. But if you underperform in your job and have the audacity to ask for my money. It's always one person that ruins it for all of us. I am sorry but I will never return to that place.

Situated opposite the cathedral and on a small, narrow street the Augustiner am Dom had every opportunity to be a tourist rip-off but it was far from it. It was our first lunch in Munich, and on Christmas Eve. Despite all the possibilities for a bad experience it was surprisingly good - food, service and value. We had to go upstairs to get a table, which was actually better as were away from the doors and the cold air. The service was prompt but not rushed, and the food - we both had the roasted pork knuckle - was fantastic. Due to the date and time of our visit, there was a high turnover of people wanting a table, so while not being rushed to leave by the staff it is respectful for diners to not hang around unnecessarily after they have eaten, and this was appreciated by the staff. Would go again

We went to the restaurant in a group of three, and order something to eat. We ordered one plate for each menu. We were changed twice for every menu we ordered. Look at the english menu, how on earth were we supposed to understand that the food was for 2 people. We came in a group of 3 but were willing to share the food as the European portion is generally too big for us. I mean they should have told us that the food was for 2 people only. However, this is not a buffet place. We pay as we eat. Why would they made twice as much as we ordered? Weird. Also, we saw a rat in the restaurant. Disgraceful Two persons minimum is not two portions minimum. Confusing phrases and confusing conversation from the staff. Overall, a tourist trap. I was forced to tip too.

We went for lunch with my son and husband, after the recommendation from a friend, and were sent to a second floor as supposedly it’s more baby friendly. The waiter seemed very unhappy we chose this floor and made it known by his face, especially when I asked for English menu (we can’t speak German). When I asked some questions about food that I was choosing for my son who has allergies, he got very impatient and irritated. Then when finally the food arrived, my son’s meal came in the usual enormous side plate, and I asked for a small side plate. I got a very rude ‘Why do you need it?!’. Explained very politely with a smile why I needed it. He came and dropped a dirty plate on our table and immediately left. I took the plate and came to his place asking to change the dirty plate, still very politely. Get back from him an irritated look again. Asked politely why is he being so rude when we were very courteous. He said “WHY NOT?!”. My jaw dropped. I don’t know what was that, bad day, ignorance, racism? Stay away from that waiter as far as possible. First floor waiters though are generally cheerful. Now about food - as others commented the quality of food there is average-to-low. But not the best branch of Augustiner’s. P.S: we were the ONLY customers on the...

This is beautiful place, the food smelled amazing and the beer I ordered was very good and delicious! However, I had a very rude older male waiter. Although I do not speak German, I tried my best to ask him a simple question, the size difference between the 2 beer sizes. He got very upset and just kept showing me one beer on the table next to me and rudely said they only have one size. I said no problem I'll take one, to which he asked me 2x and I confirmed that yes I wanted one beer. The beer came out a few mins later and I was able to enjoy. I waited a while after finishing (hoping he'd see me and come to me) before trying to stop him and ask for the check. When o finally did, he rolled his eyes at me, walked away, and shook his hand in the air as if he couldn't be bothered with me. About 5 mins later he came and I was able to pay but not without getting an attitude from him. This is such a beautiful place and just wish the experience could have been better. As someone whose worked in customer service before, the one thing you don't do is be nasty or...
