Niu Asian Café in Munich is more than just a coffee shop; it's a vibrant, almost fantastical escape into a world of colorful, handcrafted drinks and delightful ambiance. If you're looking for a break from the everyday, and a place to indulge in unique beverages, Niu is definitely worth a visit.
From the moment you step inside, the "Instagrammable" aesthetic is undeniable. Think floral walls, plush velvet seating in shades of pink and purple, and a general air of whimsical charm. It's clear that a lot of thought has gone into creating a feel-good, almost fairytale-like atmosphere. This isn't your minimalist, industrial café – it's all about embracing the fun and the beautiful.
What truly elevates Niu is their commitment to quality in their beverage creations. The owners, Nici and Tu (whose names inspired "Niu"), emphasize using high-quality ingredients, with many items being handmade. This dedication to freshness and authentic flavors is evident in every sip.
Niu offers a range of visually appealing and equally tasty drinks. While their "Rainbow & Glitter Coffee" is a popular choice for its eye-catching appeal, their more unique offerings truly shine. Take, for instance, their intriguing rainbow latte or the charcoal drink. These beverages perfectly complement the vibrant theme of the café, offering both a visual spectacle and a refreshing, often unexpected, flavor profile. The charcoal drink, in particular, offers a sophisticated, earthy contrast, making for a well-rounded experience. You'll also find various homemade iced teas and milkshakes to explore.
While Niu Asian Café excels in its unique offerings and charming ambiance, it falls just short of a perfect five stars due to a couple of minor points. The popularity of the spot often means it can get quite busy, leading to potentially longer wait times, especially on weekends. Additionally, while the decor is certainly eye-catching, it might be a bit too niche or overtly "cute" for some tastes. Overall, Niu Asian Café Munich is highly recommended for drink enthusiasts and anyone seeking a visually appealing and comfortable café experience that's a delightful departure from typical coffee shop fare. It's a true "wow moment" for your taste buds and...
Read moreA month ago there was always a huge queue in front of this cafe but when we went there a week ago at around 13:30 there were only three groups before us. Surprisingly it did not too long for us to be called and enter so that was great especially because it was a cold day. Maybe the hype is almost gone. I appreciate that there is a strict queuing system where everyone needs to wait outside until called by a staff. There’s a big sign at the entrance that says you cannot go in without being called, and everyone seems to follow the rules so it was not chaotic at all like the other gluten-free cafe located nearby :-p As others already mentioned in the reviews, you’re given a table for one hour and you have to order at the counter. Make sure to note your table number, you will be asked which table you’re seated when you order (which no one told us). We both are very familiar with the greatness of Japanese cakes as we often go to Japan (and I’m from Japan). Since mille-crêpes is one of Japanese cakes and it seems this cafe has mainly mille-crêpes, I wanted to see if their cakes are really up to the Japanese standard and I’m happy to tell you yes, their cakes are really good and taste authentic. All the cakes we had were moist, not too sweet and nicely crafted. The pound part of the Japanese strawberry shortcake was light and fluffy and it’s got a generous amount of strawberries in it. The velvet sesame mille-crêpes I ordered had a great aroma of sesame and the sauce on top was also tasty. The drinks on the other hand were ohkay. We ordered hazelnut cafe latte and maccha coffee chai latte. I thought the combination of coffee, maccha and chai latte was unique so I gave it a try but I thought it was blended in a way only the bitterness from each component stood out so I didn’t really enjoy it. The cafe is a lot bigger than it looks from outside, with many tables kinda cramped in. It has a cosy atmosphere with cute decoration. One thing I didn’t like was the pink neon light. It was very off-putting for me as you can see it reflected in my photos, making cakes look not so tasty despite the fact they actually are. Nonetheless, I’d love to come back to try out...
Read moreI spontaneously went there when we noticed it. I already knew it from different Post on social Media and well... That's what it is. If you want to meet up and post about how nice and unique the Café is, this is the right place. I like to call it an social media hot spot. The food personally was overpriced and you could've get something way tastier and fillinger for the price. It cost 2€ more to add decor on hot chocolate, these rainbow cappuccino cost about 8-9€ and a creep cake about 7€. Hot chocolate 6-8€. I had hot chocolate without decor and an black charcoal creep cake. The hot chocolate was okay, nothing special and I could've made it at home. The creep cake was a bit disappointing. Didn't tasted like anything particular. We were seated at first with two other people on a big round table. We were told beforehand so that isn't the issue, although expect like a big square table where everyone got an chair, instead it was just a big couch bench. It wasn't that much of a problem at first since we were just 4 people on the table, but after we almost finished two others got seated next to us, making us trapped in the middle. After that we decided to go. The atmosphere is, well, picture worthy, but that's about it. I found it a bit trashy and very overstimulating. With closer look even cheap. The volume was immensely loud and I couldn't concentrate or properly hear what my partner next to me said. Although it is a visit worth, it's not an place I would go twice. Honestly I'm just disappointed cause my expectations were much higher and everything was...
