The food is very good, no complaints about that. However you should be warned that if you buy from the downstairs part of the cafe there's no seating for you. They don't have any seats outside in March (even though the weather is very nice),no seats inside on the first floor, and the upstairs part of the cafe is not available for those who shopped downstairs (nevermind that it's the same restaurant - they simply didn't let us in). There's no sign that acknowledges that the upstairs tables you see from the street are basically a separate restaurant that's also called Rischart. So we went in, ordered a bunch of stuff in the "take out area" (as it turned out later) with an intention that we'll sit upstairs and enjoy our meal, and - surprise - the waiter upstairs tells us we're not allowed in because we're bringing food with us (from this same restaurant). No signs about that whatsoever. Secondly if you want to order tea - make sure to bring your own cup holder or napkins or something because the disposable cup they give you is hot and there's nothing there to put between the hot surface and your hand - no napkins no nothing. I was trying to hold the cup by the top cover but it wasn't sturdy enough so eventually it just folded in half spilling the hot tea over me. If I could sit at the table it wouldn't have happened but as I mentioned above I wasn't allowed to. So even though the food was great - the overall experience was far from pleasant. If there was some information posted (a simple sign "take out area" and an arrow up to the "dine in" would do) I would've gone to the upstairs restaurant and would've left a 5 star review since the food is...

The worst service I have ever witnessed in my life. I don’t speak very good German so I ordered takeaway while my friend got dine-in. I thought I would be able to eat my takeaway inside since I had bought it from the cafe but no. As soon as I took a bite of my sandwich, the waitress shouted at me and me not speaking German was a bit confused as to why. It turns out that I was not able to eat my sandwich from the cafe that I had paid for in the cafe. Later on I found out why. Anyway, back to my friend. The waitresses were so bad at communicating that we had no idea what was going on so we just sat at a table. The waitress then waved over my friend and gave her a ticket with no further explanation. We were very confused and no one working there would offer any assistance. Eventually someone took the ticket and my friend got to order and have her food. Once her donut was served, the waitress came over for her to pay and to our dismay there was an extra whole euro added for the service. After my friend reluctantly payed for her food and the extra euro, I thought that it might now be acceptable for me to eat my takeaway since my friend was eating in. Then again as I pulled the sandwich out of the paper bag, I heard the horrendous screams of the waitress kicking me out. I stayed a bit longer patiently waiting for my friend to finish before traipsing put into the freezing cold to eat my sandwich while staring at this retched cafe. Unfortunately, the sandwich and donut were...

Worst experience. I could not recommend!

Long story short: waiter yelled at me and my family at the terrace because I brought (wasn't eating) something from THEIR OWN shop.

I asked for the one very specific snack and in quite a rude manner told me "no, I don't have it". Since I've seen it in the shop (next room), so I've asked once again pointing to the fact that they actually have it there - and being told that there's no such snack at all. Not the fact it's not allowed to buy there and eat here, no. But that there's no such food.

In order to avoid unnecessary altercation with visibly annoyed waiter - I went and buy it in shop next room. There is no sign "don't bring food from our shop" as well and waiter didn't told us that the snacks form the shop is not allowed.

Surely there was a snack in shop, I bring it back and faced reaction: this is not allowed because it's a tax fraud and he will be fined. I couldn't comprehend such change from denying snack existing to the tax fraud.

Waiter was hostile from the second we entered and very arrogant in general. Refused to tell his name, claimed he's "Chef here" until the shift manager showed up. That's ridiculous.

Shift manager is barely helpful, she told me that he's "very expressive" - this is a new term, apparently, for yelling at the customers.

I did check the rating only after we left. Looks like management doesn't care at...

Visited here for lunch in May without checking any Google reviews. I was attracted by the food in the display cabinet downstairs. the place was really busy and chaotic. And it wasn't clear how pricing for the different "dining zones" works. So apparently if you want to sit upstairs, there's a different price and menu for the food. I wasn't aware of that so when I ordered at the counter and was asked if I wanted to sit upstairs, I said yes, not realising that it would mean more expensive meal. By the time I walked up and was showed to a spare table and saw the menu prices, I felt it would be too rude to just walk down so decided to stay anyway. Then because it was so busy, they put the tables to be very close to each other. So there wasn't much space if you need to walk to the toilet or move your chair. And because it was so close, the waiter wrongly sent the pizza order that was meant for the table next to me to my table. I sat there for a few minutes wondering if the waiter misunderstood me. I did not touch the food, and because the old couples sitting next to me don't speak English they couldn't communicate with me. Thankfully, the waiter came back and realised his mistake and apologised. The food was okay for the price, which is not cheap. It was well presented and portion was good to fill me up.

Rischart is a mystery to me. It's anything but pleasant, but I do like to come back. They have great Kaiserschmarrn, but that is about it. The cake I find to be good, but nothing special at all. I have been here quite a few times and I have to say as far as atmosphere and service go it is subpar. I have been to school canteens with a better atmosphere. It's packed, there is barely any space and they make you feel unwelcome and like a number. Which is unfortunately something that seems to be acceptable in the gastro world of Munich - I am sure thee is plenty of service minded and cozy places to proof me wrong. Anyhow, today I could not get the Kaiserschmarrn without raisins, something I usually get here, as they did not offer it. Either many raisins or somewhat less raising were my option. Very strange. Also my tea cup was dirty. Sad. One thing I always wonder is why they use the biggest plates for the tea when they have the tiniest tables imaginable. Unfortunately it still works and they do not have to offer more than the bare minimum. It's like going to a fast food restaurant disguised as a café.
