Sadly bar and beer garden cannot be reviewed differently - However, this review focuses on an unbelievable experience in Schuhmann's beer garden and not on drinks and great experience I had in the bar earlier. After work on a sunny Wednesday evening we met at Hofgarten with a group of 3 and went to their beer garden to have a drink within Hofgarten. We had already switched from business attire into shorts and shirt, which seemed to influence our treatment. When we reached there was no waiter around and approx. less than 1/3 of tables occupied. We sat down and waited several minutes until a waiter came by. Without any greeting and in a rude tone we were asked whether we would have a reservation ("Haben Sie reserviert?). We replied we would not have any but if it would be possible to have a drink though, given the low utilisation. The waiter replied he would check inside and disappeared. Nothing happened, the waiter served other guests and we got ignored. Meanwhile new guests in business attire got warm welcomes and attention and their menu within seconds. I doubt all of them had a proper reservation. We watched this for some time until another waiter came by and repeated the question for our reservation in about the same rude tone. We were politely replying that we were still waiting for his colleague to check inside. He turned around and ignored us the same way as his colleague did. After nearly half an hour we ended this exceptional low service experience by leaving the location - assuming that this was exactly what was expected of us. Anyhow, I still cannot believe why it is so difficult to tell guests they have a dress code in their beer garden, have been fully booked or whatever reason, why we would not have been welcome and qualified to get served. Given the comments of other fellow reviewers this arrogant attitude is part of their business and will thus prevent me from spending any more euros in their bar and...
Read moreA friend loved this place and suggested it to me.
I walk in, all the bar tenders look up and stare. (The place is empty) I ask “hi, is this Schumanns?” They say yes and I ask, if I can sit anywhere. They yes and one guy points outside So I go out side, only 3 tables are taken out of like 40 ish, so I sit
I then get ignored for 3-5 minutes Until a rude waiter comes to tell me all the tables are reserved (kind of annoyed at me for not realizing) And I can only sit there until 7
I tell him that the bar tenders told me to come out here and that I was originally gonna sit inside and that I don’t care where I sit
So we go back and for then he brings me to the bar and gives me a menu
I sit at the bar looking at the menu and searching for the ginger beer. All of the bar tenders have their back to me, wiping bottles, refusing to make eye contact.
Again, there are only 5 people in the garden section and just me inside so they are not busy making drinks.
I wait for another 3 minutes with no one addressing me. Then I understood that I wasn’t wanted there. Then I left.
Screw this place. Save your time and go literally anywhere else in Munich and get treated with respect or at least get served a mass...
Read moreI am visiting this nice and high class bar & restaurant very frequently. The food and the drinks are extraordinary, I would say the best product price ratio you can find in the whole city. The bartenders behind the bar and the chefs in the kitchen are highly professional and educated in their profession. But that's not all: the service of the waiters equates the highest bar & restaurant standards. Especially the two Gentlemen Kostas and Makis create a lovely atmosphere of hospitality with subtle sense of humour, anticipating the wishes of the guests intuitively. Whatever you order is shortly and nicely served by Kostas and Makis. Dishes are presented with ironed cloth napkins, tasty bread and Greek olive oil. The Schumanns Bar has different bars within one location: you have "The Camparino" in the entry area, the main bar "Schumanns Bar", the bar "Les Fleurs du mal" in the first floor, where you are sitting in front of the bar tenders with changing drinks menu and the area of the Hofgarten which is an open air bar and nicely illuminated. I can only highly recommend, always a...
