The positive before the less positive: The food was good. Well made and plenty.
The background: we arrived at 19:15 knowing the restaurant closed at 20:00. Traveling from Rostock we prioritized the detour to Nurnberg on our way to Munich. The staff informed us that the restaurant closed at 20:00. Knowing this we were prepared to eat as quickly as possible.
The less positive: We had everything ordered before 19:30. It took some time as other guests arrived late too.
The sweets and the coffee were served before the main course. I found this odd but acceptable as the restaurant was closing soon and we were prepared to be quick.
The main course was served ten minutes before closing time and the staff (waiter) was showing sighing blunt signaling the inconveniences being there. Even our 10 yo picked up on the hints of the staff and commented on it.
We ate as fast as possible and took what the kids couldn't eat fast with us. Our youngest got stomach ache of the stress.
Now although we were aware the restaurant would close I expect the restaurant to decline guest they will not be able to cater properly. Usually a restaurant won't kick out guests with food if they were accepted late and food was served only minutes before closing time.
Four main courses and two desserts. One corresponding drink and one espresso totally on 91 euro. Probably the most expensive meal per minute I've ever eaten (including some white guide and Michelin rated restaurants) like 5 € a minute per person.
A shame as the food was pretty good.
I understand that some may say that we were aware of the situation and could only blame ourselves. Fair enough, a valid point. I am somewhat responsable for the situation.
But down the line a restaurant still depends on the overall impression of the service and should guide guests to get a good experience. This failed and at that price range (about 25€ each) service wasn't up to snuff and 91 € was not very well spent.
Cute cats or not. This turned out to be a below...
Read moreThe food was nothing special and over priced for what it was. For me, there was no "wow" factor when it came to the food. After ordering, and having asked the waitress about the meal, it was disappointing to receive a meal that wasn't as described neither by the waitress nor the menu and containing ingredients that weren't mentioned. i.e. Scrambled Eggs...there was no mention of the soy being toasted (which is a non-healthy thing to do with soy) nor them being curried scrambled eggs but that is what was served.
The cats, however were quite cute. But considering they are free to roam and it's a place serving food...it is lacking in the basic hygene equipment of hand sanitiser on the table so that one can clean their hands after touching the cats before touching the food. It's also not hygenic for the cats to have the freedom of being on the tables, especially whilst food is on there considering that cat owners don't permit this in their own homes due to hygene reasons.
REPLY TO OWNER: The issue wasn't what the eggs are made of nor whether it's a common recipe or not. There is a big difference between plain and curried eggs. The fact was the menu just stated scrambled eggs, the waitress just said scrambled eggs...thus leading to the expectation of just plain scrambled eggs. What was served was curried scrambled eggs. I did, in fact, see a cat on a female customer's table walking over the dishes and nuzzling up to her, hence my comment on that. If this was an unusual one off that you happen to miss and thus were unable to address, great. I can only comment on what I saw whilst there. I saw no hand sanitizer on the table I was at nor did I see it on any other. It's also not the most convenient to have to constantly get up from your table and meal to wash your hands. Therefore, my comment regarding the hand sanitizer is a constructive criticism rather than just a...
Read moreI read some reviews a bit ago before going and I genuinely don't know what some people are yapping about. "Food is mid" "place is not clean" yada yada, well all I'll say is, you better go there and see for yourself. I eat all kinds of foods and on top of being either vegan or vegetarian food, this was some of the best food I've ever eaten in my life. I've never had fries that are in this boat shape before and they are literally superior because they get so nice and crispy, and they're generously salted so that you can just even eat them by themselves without sauces. The chicken burger with kimchi was divine, there was so much flavor in there. The patty genuinely looked like real chicken so i dont know what sorcery they did but it was super nice. The food variety might not be big but each dish is very creative and you get a variety of greens, something you don't get bored of easily for sure. The price for the burgers are up to 15€ and I paid 4,5€ for the side of fries with ketchup and mayo, which I consider super alright considering how good they were and that it's a cat cafe, so some of that money goes to the cats. The server was super duper nice, restaurant itself looked very cozy and nice and CLEAN, and what can I say, it was very entertaining to watch the cats climb around on their (very meticulously designed system of) cat towers. Overall i can really recommend it, a gem for hanging with friends, family or whoever you want. It's super close to the train...
