I consider myself an amateur beer connoisseur and let me start with the fact that this may have been the best beer I've had in my life. Sure I was mighty peckish after a long waking tour through Regensberg, but the bock was just absolutely incredible.
We stumbled upon the brauhaus in the middle of our walking tour of the city and almost passed it by because it looked a bit touristy. I quickly consulted Tripadvisor and upon seeing it was rated #6 in the city, decided to give it a try. Ok, actually my wife convinced me, but don't tell her that.
The place has a modern typical micro-brewery feel with copper vats around the corners and is actually much larger than it appears from outside.
Service was very good. It was fast and friendly, and our waitress helped explain a few things in english when we had issues with the German menu because we refused to take the English one. Both the food and drinks came very quickly.
My wife got the tasting flight which came in 4 mini weizen glasses in a test tube sort of tray. She really enjoyed all 4 and they were healthy portions.
We also had noticed the weiswurst themed specials they had outside and got a few things from that.
We began with soups because we were freezing from our cold walk. I had the goulash soup and my wife ordered the weiswurst one, but accidentally got the potato one. She was disappointed until she tasted it. She claims it's the best soup she's ever had in her life. My goulash was similarly very good. The bread it came with was also excellent and made for good dipping.
I then had the weiswurst goulash which was cut up weiswurst in sauce and my wife had a regular weiswurst with excellent mustard. It was all fantastic. For how far north Regensberg is, I didn't expect Munich quality wurst but was pleasantly surprised by how good it was.
We then ended with a typical espresso to prove how European we were. This was also fantastic and helped us finish the rest of our walking tour.
It was a great stop and one of the highlights of our trip to Germany. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone traveling...
Read moreSo sorry to say that we are not going back anymore. All the past times we've been here we've had a foreigner and extremely nice waiter, but this time we got a blonde short haired woman who was everything but plesant to us. She was clearly annoyed by the fact that we wanted to have our beer before ordering some food (the place wasn't packed), then after the fifth time that she came to us we felt obligated to order even if it was too early for us to eat (maybe the fact that we are not Germans didn't help?).We left a very generous tip (certainly more than 10%) and she didn't even thank us (the 6 people at the table next to ours left like 2€ and she was super smiley). When we were leaving she crossed us as she was coming back in and didn't even say goodbye. It's really a shame because the place is very nice as well as the rest of the staff we dealt with, but as a client today's visit was...
Read moreWe found the restaurant while we were looking for another resturant which is on the top list of the place to eat in Regensburg at TripAdvisor. While we were passing by, I noticed two guys drinking beer. The beer looked great and I asked my wife to stop and drink beer before we go to the restaurant we were looking for. We ordered our beer and booooommmm. The best beer I have ever drunk in my life. Then I asked the waiter whether they served food or not. He said yes. We ordered schnitzel. I am not exaggrating, one of the best I have ever eaten. And the potato (french) fries, awesome. We had two liters of beer, two schnitzel and we paid 63 Euro including the service. I definitely reccommend this restaurant. You...
