We came here on a busy Friday evening, expecting not to be able to secure a table. However there were lots of people in a similar situation waiting at the bar for unreserved tables. Staff were checking whether couples would be willing to share tables together and agreeing to this meant we were seated within five minutes, which was great. The wooden interior of the restaurant was really pleasant and the open kitchen great to watch, especially given how busy it was. Our table for four was large and spacious and everything was really clean. Menus were brought really quickly but there was no English version available and the staff struggled somewhat to help with our order, so ensure your German is up to scratch! Drinks were brought quickly and getting the attention of the staff for refills was easy enough. The food also arrived in good time and were great portion sizes. Both the wiener schnitzel and pork was cooked perfectly and presented well. Even the portion of salad was tasty and fresh. Overall it was an enjoyable meal in a very good location, it was merely a shame that at times we felt a little out of place given the lack of English, but don’t let that put you off because it’s a great experience!

I went to Carls Brauhaus for a late lunch / early dinner to try Swabian cuisine. I had a Schwabenteller, which is a dish comprising pork tenderloin and a breaded veal chop with black beer gravy, served with Swabian ravioli and cheese noodles. As for drinks, I had a passionfruit ginger lemonade and a 0.3l DinkelackerKellerbier (naturally cloudy beer specialty low fermented and high original wort content), one of the brews on tap at Carls Brauhaus. The Schwabenteller came with a side salad. The food is classic Swabian, and comes in generous portions. The Swabian ravioli is very nicely done - filled with meat, and goes well with the caramelised onions in the black beer gravy. There is a lot of carbohydrates with the cheese noodles! I couldn’t really taste the ginger in the passionfruit ginger lemonade, perhaps insufficient amount or overpowered by the sugar in the drink. The Dinkelacker is very smooth and an easy drinking beer. The service is prompt and polite, with the waiter gently suggesting that I could do without a separate salad order as the Schwabenteller comes with a side salad. Tourist tip: the washrooms are super clean here. Overall a very good experience and I’ll be back again.

THIS PLACE IS A SUPER MUST GO TO EAT WHEN IN TOWN. A***. Was here on 16/10/22. After wandering around town with my friends sights became familiar, whilst trying to get a table on the square. I knew this place to be just the other side of the square from a visit in 2016. The place is always buzzing and I’ve never had a problem getting a table I’m always with at least 10 people. The service is second to none, friendly, polite and knowledgeable on all that is on their menu. I’m a cocktail lover and they do not fail to please even though as you would expect beer is the main thing. And that is in plenty supply in whatever volume you want it. Now the food is ridiculously delicious, like I don’t think I’ve eaten something I’ve ordered or suggested to someone and not watched us melt into the chair in every bite. Crispy ham hock, pork roast, wiener snitzel. There is a phone charger locker if the portable ones are all in use. I seriously highly recommend this place. In summer be warned but it worth the wait. Go now. Can’t wait

We were extremely disappointed when we tried to make a reservation online and they were fully booked. However when we walked past the restaurant, I decided to ask them instead. The very nice waiter (who ended up serving us) advised us to come back anyway as walk-ins and they should be able to accommodate us as we wanted an early dinner (plus I wasn’t going to miss out on the pork knuckle!). So glad we did that. The pork knuckle was AMAZING!!! So tender and juicy and the crackling didn’t disappoint either. My daughter had the pulled pork burger which was nice but a little dry in the middle but very tasty. My husband and I shared the full knuckle and ordered a serve of fries. It was more than enough for both of us. Prices were very reasonable too. Paid just under 70Euro for food and drinks for 4 adults. A shout out to our server Habibi (see photo) whose service was as good as the food, if not better. He was super friendly and helpful. Make the whole experience a 5 out of 5. Highly recommend

August 15, 6 pm. I had the whole crispy ham hock. Menu says it is “fresh from the oven daily 5pm”. Mine had at least 2 dried up spots (where the meat was not covered by the skin) like it was cooked sometime ago and left uncovered air dried. See photo, the darker red spots. Meat was tough and overcooked because they had to reheat it. I mentioned to waitress but she insisted that it was freshly made today. There were lots of flies inside restaurant. Soon they landed on my ham hock and I had to stop eating. I was going to abandon the ham hock anyway because it was so bad. Waitress asked if I want to leave a tip. I said I would if the ham hock was freshly made. It was not to me. Also the waitress took the cup that contained napkins, knives, forks as if to refill it. But she never returned it. Just took it away for no reason. Mind boggling. I had to get napkins from next table. I do not recommend the ham hock.

I came to this brauhaus a few times, and on the second visit me and my friends decided to have some lunch. I just went for a main course, and chose Carls Tipp (€16.50) which was a trio of maultaschen (Swabian ravioli) with gravey and a potato salad. The dish was filling, and I did enjoy it, but found the ravioli to lack a bit of flavour and seasoning. The potato salad was fine and baulked up the dish well, but I just found it a bit pricey for what I got. The service was very good, though, and we had a chat and a laugh with our waiter. The menú overall is very good, though, and has everything you'd want from a German and Swabian brauhaus. Only 4 stars because I liked my dish, but it wasn't quite WOW. It's definitely worth a visit, though, as the wooden interior is lovely also. :)
