My expectations were set after reading 5 star reviews by other diners. This coupled with the Michelin Plate award. However, was bitterly disappointed.
Ordered the Sea bass fillet, celery root puree, spicy bulgur wheat salad with avocado. Sea bass was excellent. The bulgur wheat salad was excessively sharp (like drowned in a vinegar) and was left on the plate.
My wife had the Seafood Linguine pasta with cashew sauce, dill, spinach, capers and lemon. She was informed the cashew sauce was a tomato one. The seafood she felt was not fresh (maybe it was who knows?) and she said the mix of flavours did not really work. She’s had better at lesser establishments was her response.
Both the white wines we chose were very good. As was the home baked bread.
I was really hoping to come away and write a raving review but quite the reverse. Overall a very lacklustre experience.
Would I return? No as we both felt the main course was a let down. You cannot rest on your laurels in the...
Read moreWhat a fantastic dining experience at ΑΝΕΤΟΝ! This Michelin-recommended spot in Athens really knows how to elevate traditional Greek flavors with a modern twist.
I started with the Greek salad, which was beautifully presented and incredibly fresh. The flavors were balanced just right—a perfect mix of creamy feta, juicy tomatoes, and crisp cucumbers. Next, I tried the octopus, which was tender and perfectly charred, served with subtle accompaniments that let the flavor of the octopus shine.
For dessert, I went with the tiramisu, which was a delightful surprise—rich, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness. To finish, I had a local Greek tea that brought a soothing, aromatic end to the meal.
Every dish was delicious, and the service was attentive and warm. If you’re in Athens and looking for a memorable meal, ΑΝΕΤΟΝ is definitely worth a visit! Highly...
Read moreGreek haute cuisine at its best. I loved the central Athenian vibe of the neighbourhood and the restaurant's minimal aesthetics. Food wise: The couscous (Greek version - not the north African semolina kind) lamb was surprisingly tender and without smell (even for me not being big fan of lamb), the ox cheeks were melting in the mouth, and the monkfish with parsnip puree just sensational, unlike anything I've tried before. Even our fussy kids loved the food. Menu is changing often so you may find these dishes outdated by the time you read this. But overall great food and slightly on the expensive side of things but worth it. Service wise we were pretty satisfied although some may find it a bit slow; but hey ho, this is Greece and things tend to be more relaxed compared to London or New York. So take it easy and enjoy the Greek way of...
