Ama Lachei — Restaurant in Athens

Oh my God... I have chosen this place total randomly with my friends while visiting Athens. What a great experience we had! From the entrance there was a smiley face waiting for us. The lady greeted us and took us straight to the table. The menu was explained and we've been given few minutes to decide. Great selection of traditional Greek cuisine which rather focuses on some not very common opinions. We've been group of 6 and we felt like at home. The food was splendid! Each and every person from my group loved their dish. I had a rabbit's leg with Cretean cheese served with spaghetti in a tomato sauce - so good I wanted another portion of it! White Greek wine was a perfect addition as well as the selection of cheese we've chosen. Staff members were ultra friendly and attentive. We've been surprised how affordable the meals were! Especially for the quality of food we've received. I'm definitely going to recommend to my friends and hoping to come back...

The food was delicious and prices very reasonable, also the service was good. Unfortunately the chair I sat in was infested with bugs and now the back of my legs is covered in bites, no less than 50 per leg, big red welts. I am now on steroid cream the bites are now so bad and for the first 2 days I felt like my legs were burning. God knows what was in the chair exactly, but I did see a couple of small reddish brown bugs and thought nothing of it at first. I only sat for 5 minutes before I felt the chair come alive and asked to change it. I really hope they either throw the chair out or treat it properly to avoid anyone else else suffering like I am. It happened on our first day in athens. Hopefully I can get to enjoy the beach later without feeling like I have a terrible skin disease. Since I visited in summer I saw only the outdoors garden/space and it was pretty spacious and in a way cozy with an old fashioned air. For what they were serving (specialities and local Greek ingredients and produce from all over the country) their prices were very rational, it's obvious that the restaurant itself specializes in more delicate and sought out dishes that are surprisingly not too complex and the service along with the food come especially fast. However, my personal suggestion, if you are on a tight budget, is going there for a medium sized dinner and an appetite that's not too hard to satisfy, since the portions themselves won't impress the more voracious eaters. In the end I would suggest to try one or more of the many prepared or non prepared Greek cheeses that they have on their menu since it will be hard to give them a try later on, even if you are...
