The Black Salami Microbakery is a brilliant example of how the right spot can transform everything. The choice of Exarcheia (a neighborhood that's more famous for its protests and graffiti) for The Black Salami Microbakery might not have seemed obvious at first, but it's this unexpected location that infuses the place with unbeatable charm. And it’s the vibe, not only the food, what makes this place so brilliant. The Black Salami has an edgy name and funky decor. It's a place where you can feel the pulse of the city, and also enjoy some of its finest flavors. It's like the area and the bakery have a secret pact, each enhancing the other’s character with their rebellious spirit and delicious flavors. The Black Salami Microbakery is not just a bakery. It's a destination. A place where you can get some of the most amazing bread, pizza, sandwiches, pies, pastries and cookies in Athens, if not the whole of Greece. And trust me, I've tried a lot. The Black Salami is not for the faint of heart. It's for the bold, the curious, the adventurous, the hungry. It's for those who appreciate quality, creativity and originality, and don't mind getting their hands dirty. Because let me tell you, the food here is messy. But in a good way. The bread is crusty and chewy, the pizza and focaccia are loaded with toppings and cheese, the sandwiches are stuffed with meat and veggies, the pies are flaky and savory, the pastries are gooey and sweet, and the cookies are soft and chunky. Everything is made with fresh ingredients and baked to perfection. You can taste the passion and care that goes into every bite. But be warned: this place is popular. And for a good reason. So if you want to get your hands on some of their goodies, you better come early. Like before 1 pm early. Because they sell out fast. And trust me, you don't want to miss out on this. A visit to The Black Salami Microbakery is like delving into Athens' very soul. A must, without a doubt.

If you're looking for a destination that promises an unforgettable culinary journey, look no further than The Black Salami Microbakery in Exarheia. As Athens' top microbakery, this standout establishment has been leading the city's bakery revolution for the past few years. Their steadfast commitment to quality and innovation sets them apart, making them a must-visit spot in the heart of Athens. Step inside, and you're greeted with the aroma of the best bread you will find in the city - freshly baked, crusty on the outside, and delightfully soft on the inside. But the culinary adventure doesn't stop at bread. Their diverse menu boasts a wide array of delectable treats - from sandwiches packed with exciting flavors, Greek-style stuffed focaccias, pizzas, to decadent pastries and cookies that are the perfect companion to a cup of their excellent coffee. Brunch lovers are in for a treat with their offerings of perfectly crafted eggs benedict or florentine, elevating the morning dining experience to new heights. The experience at The Black Salami Microbakery goes beyond just the food. Despite being a microbakery, they've thoughtfully incorporated a side table bench, where you can enjoy your meal, immersing yourself in the vibrant Exarheia atmosphere. If you prefer to take your treats to go, they offer take-away options to bring their delicious creations wherever you please. In a city that is bustling with high-quality bakeries, The Black Salami Microbakery shines as the finest, blending the art of traditional baking with a creative twist that leaves a lasting impression. Whether you're a local or a traveler looking to sample Athens' best, a visit to The Black Salami is an absolute must. It's more than just a microbakery - it's a feast for the senses.

We chose to have breakfast here. It was a cute and pleasant place, well-designed and refreshing. You can get your coffee and sandwich and enjoy it there. We ordered two sandwiches: one with mortadella and the other with honey mustard. The mortadella sandwich was truly wonderful, with a good amount of filling and a nice flavor. The combination of cheese and tomato was great. They toast the bread after preparing the sandwich, and the bread for the mortadella one was really nice. However, the bread for the honey mustard sandwich was too hard, and the filling felt insufficient. The taste wasn’t bad, but I might not order it again. I wanted to give a high rating because I liked the mortadella sandwich. The americano was also nice. (Extra note: For vinyl lovers or collectors, there’s a record shop on the right as you walk down from the place. We loved it and picked up three records; I recommend checking it out!)
