GhostHouse Karaoke — Restaurant in Athens

Sadly! Finally got a quick peak at this place only because we happened to be in the area for dinner Friday night. I always wondered about it firstly because it’s maybe one of the only real type karaoke places around in Athens. We are big fans of karaoke and it’s something that we’ve always missed having moved here from NYC a few years. Back home we sang our hearts out never missed weekend 10yrs straight in every karaoke place of NYC and we brought down the house!!! But, unfortunately I didn’t expect how uncomfortable and unwanted we were made to feel visiting this place. I mean for real, I understand it’s Friday night ok (we get it) we didn’t have reservations!!! (we must be insane showing up like that) It was early and we just wanted a seal peak so that finally we can actually make reservations and SING maybe the following weekend. Damn thought- how INTENSE- we were reminded that we had no reservations about maybe 4 times and we’re made to move around by different people. At the end after being there for an incredibly uncomfortable 20 min tops, we left our drinks unfinished and exited the place!! Really the vibe we got was more like- you could go now!!! tourists and keeping it locals and that’s all! Can this place get anymore INTENSE!!

What a GREAT time! Easily the best karaoke experience I’ve had in my life (and that’s saying a lot). The equipment was perfect, no sound issues, professional screens and lighting, etc. The staff were extremely cool and friendly, from Dimitris at the door who made sure we were seated and comfortable, to the DJ, Manos, who was GREAT at managing the karaoke playlist (and could also download karaoke tracks if he didn’t have the songs available), and he was very fair in making sure that everyone had a go before repeating singers. He’s just an all-around very cool dude. The bar staff were also amazing, extremely quick, very well organized to avoid long drink waits and super importantly: everything was priced very fairly. On top of it all, I was told that this is a small, local family business, so if you come here you’ll be supporting a local family. I'm a history nerd, so beside the historical landmarks throughout Athens, this bar was by FAR the best night my wife and I had during our trip. We were lucky enough to email the bar who reserved two bar stools for us on Thursday night. It was a blast. We had so much fun i asked the manager while leaving if we could reserve a spot for the next night (Friday night). He said unfortunately they were fully reserved. We returned anyway, and they were more than accommodating, even making sure we sat in the same seats we did the night prior. The bar waitress was super friendly, and I have never had service this good anywhere in my own country.
